Paul Ryan on Reconciliation [Robert Costa]
Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.), the ranking member of the House Budget Committee, tells National Review Online that House Democrats are planning to use the budget-reconciliation process in order to pass Obamacare. “They’re meeting with each other THIS WEEKEND to pursue it,” says Ryan. “I’ve spoken with many Democrats and the message is this:" They’re not ready to give up. They’ve waited their entire adult lives for this moment, and they aren’t ready to let 100,000 pesky votes in Massachusetts get in the way of fulfilling their destiny. They’ll look at every option and spend the next four or five days figuring it out.”
If the Democrats pass a health-care bill through reconciliation, it means they would need only 51 votes in the Senate for final passage. To start the process, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) would need to bring a new health-care bill to the House Budget Committee with reconciliation instructions, with the Senate doing the same. “They’d have to go back to the beginning of the process,” says Ryan. “They’d need to affix reconciliation instructions to a new bill.” Doing so, he says, wouldn’t be too hard. “There’s nothing we can do to stop this from a technical standpoint, since all they need is a simple majority vote and our ratio on the committee is terrible. What [Republicans] can do on the Budget Committee is pass resolutions for the Rules Committee to insist on certain changes in the bill and create a ‘vote-a-rama’ atmosphere.”
If reconciliation happens, Ryan predicts that the Democrats will still have a hard time pulling it off. “There are Blue Dog Democrats out there who are more survivalist than ideologues. One or two switches could be a game changer. The question is whether Democrats will continue to follow Pelosi off the cliff. After Massachusetts, the Democrats are quickly realizing that even if the president comes in to stump, and you get all the union support you need, it’s still not enough to get you elected.”

Pelosi said "Regardless of Massachusetts, it will happen" and Democrats are continuing to work to reconcile the House and Senate ObamaCare bills and are proceeding to force a through a process called "budget reconciliation," where they only need 51 votes to pass a bill, not 60.
Obama, Reid and Pelosi are still circling and have vowed to continue working on passing a scaled down ObamaCare bill by picking America apart with new taxes, increased healthcare costs and insurance premiums by hiding ObamaCare in future spending bills.

DEFEATING OBAMACARE: THE NAIL IN THE COFFIN

Now is the time to finish off the prospects of Obamacare with the Democrats reeling from the defeat in Massachusetts.
We must not trust them. The apparent reluctance of the House Democrats to pass the Senate version will evaporate once Obama puts his weight behind the bill and Pelosi starts to twist arms. Moderate Democrats cannot be counted upon.
Who's to Blame for America's Economic Crisis – Vote Here! So we need to target Democrats in swing districts who voted for the health care legislation in its first go-round in the House and convince them of the error of their ways. As the Republican floor leader in the 60s Senator Everett Dirksen once said "when they feel the heat, they see the light."
Here is a list of twenty-three Democrats who voted for Obamacare and who are vulnerable in 2010. Its time to turn up the heat on them:

These are the key votes. If we can create a groundswell among their voters, demanding that they retreat from their position of forcing socialized medicine and Medicare cuts on the country, we can win.
Nancy Pelosi's strategy is to delay and let the impact of the Brown win in Massachusetts be blunted by time. Meanwhile, she will propose amendments to the Senate bill and submit her proposed changes to the upper chamber. Harry Reid will tell her that such a bill is dead on arrival but she will demand a vote. When the measure is rejected (or fails of closure), she will go back to her caucus and say, "I tried, but the Senate would not accept any of our amendments."
Then the question is: What happens then? If we have prepared the way by influencing the districts of the marginal members who voted for the bill, we can assure that the centrist Democrats do not support the new legislation. We can peel away some of the 220 votes (with 215 against) by which the bill passed the House.

“Hammer is about to fall on Healthcare” – Deadline: Christmas

The Senate vote on ObamaCare will happen before
Christmas because the "hammer" is about to fall.

We have just learned that Senate Democrats are in final
preparations to unveil their healthcare "hammer" to get
ObamaCare passed.
The "hammer" is the new public option compromise being
worked out -- again behind closed doors -- that puts the
government-run public option plan under the direction of a
"non-governmental board."
As if we are to believe this is an improvement!
The "hammer public option" would be imposed immediately in
every state that does not meet the ObamaCare guidelines.
In addition, Reid and the Democrats have gotten so desperate
to pass ObamaCare prior to Christmas that we now have
positive confirmation that the "nuclear option" is still
a looming threat. (The "nuclear option" would only require
50 votes to pass ObamaCare instead of the 60 votes now
needed to end debate on the Senate floor.)
Sen. Ben Nelson acknowledged that in an op-ed. He feared
failure to cast a vote to proceed would move Reid to use
the "budget reconciliation" nuclear option.
With the "hammer" coming and the very real threat of the
nuclear option on the table, we are almost guaranteed a
vote on ObamaCare in the Senate before Christmas.

Reid Unveils 2,074-Page Health Bill. Do You Think Congress Will Read It?
Harry Reid unveiled his $849 billion health-care bill tonight. It weighs in at 2,074 pages. Keith Hennessey runs through the tax hikes in the bill:
The following is from the Joint Tax Committee estimate of the revenue effects of the Reid bill. I have listed provisions with major revenue effects (+$20 B / 10 years) and a few others that have significant policy or political impacts. There are some smaller changes as well, which you can see for yourself in the 3-page document. All revenue figures are revenues raised over the ten-year period 2010-2019.
1. 40% excise tax on health coverage in excess of $8,500 (individuals) / $23,000 (families). Amounts are indexed for inflation by CPI-U + 1% – begins in 2013 – $149 B tax increase
2. Additional 0.5% Medicare (Hospital Insurance) tax on wages in excess of $200,000 ($250,000 for joint filers) – begins in 2013 – $54 B tax increase
3. Impose annual fee on manufacturers and importers of branded drugs – begins in 2010 – $22 B tax increases
4. Impose annual fee on manufacturers and importers of certain medical devices – begins in 2010 – $19 B tax increase
5. Cut in half (to $500K) the amount of an executive’s compensation that a health plan can deduct from its corporate income taxes – begins in 2013 – $600 million tax increase
6. Impose 5% excise tax on cosmetic surgery and similar procedures – begins for surgery in 2010 – $6 B tax increase!
In total the bill would raise taxes by $370 B over ten years.
Analysis on the tax hikes from Hennessey at the link. Reid has decided to raise the Medicare payroll tax on individuals making more than $106,800; perhaps not the smartest way to boost employment.
The CBO report says the bill would save $127 billion over 10 years--but as Allahpundit notes "$127 billion over 10 years sounds like a lot until you remember that $176 billion was October’s monthly deficit." We still haven't gotten a look at the CBO report to see just how bad the Medicare cuts will be [Update: The CBO (download here) reports Medicare will be cut by $491 billion over 10 years], but tell grandma and grandpa not to worry: Under this bill they'll get $500 in 2010 when Harry Reid just so happens to be up for reelection.
The bill also allows taxpayer-funding for abortions through the public health insurance plan and the health insurance exchanges; the language is similar to the Capps amendment that tried to conceal federal funding of abortion through an accounting gimmick (see here). National Right to Life Committee calls the amendment "completely unacceptable."
Senator Mitch McConnell said in a statement: “This bill has been behind closed doors for weeks. Now, it’s America’s turn, and this will not be a short debate. Higher premiums, tax increases and Medicare cuts to pay for more government—the American people know that is not reform.”

For God Sake America… Stand up and Stop This… Hasn’t TARP, the Stimulus Bill, The GM…Bank…and AIG bailouts, the disastrous recovery programs and etc etc been enough to warn us?? We are out of time to wait and see…!!

Jindal's program for the treatment of child sexual abuse perpetrators. I am curious, though, as to what Pelosi has in mind.
Maybe Republicans ought to move to strike the "and perpetrators" part of that program?

America has 3-days to figure out that there is nothing about ObamaCare (PelosiCare or HarryCare) that has anything to do with healthcare reform or anything to do with helping the American people, cutting costs, improving care or in insuring everyone. It is all about controlling more of the American Economy that used to pretty much be part of the private sector and grabbing power… Please, wake up America… this bill is one of those Liberty or Tyranny moments as Rep Bachmann said and as the House Minority Leader, John Boehner is warning us about.
If you can possible do it… get to Washington D.C. Thursday and meet at the Capital steps at noon… or go for Wednesday and Thursday November 4th & 5th.
Did you know that approx 800 additional pages in pork and amendments will be added to that bill before the vote?
Did you know that the GOP has present 50-alternative healthcare bills that were not even considered; the Dems have locked out the GOP from and any deliberation on this bill and the White House has refused to meet with any Republicans, even the trained doctors in the House and Senate, since last Thursday? Then, over the weekend they were told they could now present an alternative before the vote…? Yah Right…

Then back up those calls with calls to your Congress people’s local offices and emails and faxes to both offices.

Today’s edition of the Wall Street Journal has a scathing editorial of the legislation introduced by Speaker Pelosi. It notes the creation of a new ‘Health Choices Commissioner’ that will decide “essential benefits” which all insurers will have to offer. This sounds like something straight out of Aldous Huxley’s, A Brave New World or George Orwell’s, 1984.
