Government to government plan to seize control of all foods

Shortly after “Dirty Harry” Reid passed the fake food safety bill in here in the US, with his one unanimous vote, C-36 passed two weeks later in Canada. Both bills were an outright attack on individual rights and property rights as both governments claim they now have the authority to unilaterally decide who can grow, process and sell foods and under what conditions. And, just as here in the US, those lawmakers responsible for this attack on liberty claimed they did so because that was what the public demanded and was begging for.

Actually, in both countries just the opposite was true; the public was demanding that these bills not be passed. Dirty Harry claimed that more than 10,000 people had begged him to pass the bill while never mentioning that more than a million had objected. But in neither case was food safety and security the real intent of the legislation. Both the US and Canada were handing agricultural production in all its forms, over to international organizations and multi-national corporations.

A sample of the unconstitutional restrictions included in bill C-36 include:

- abolishing protection from trespass, a court-ordered warrant, and the need for court-supervised search and seizure;

- on ONLY suspicion, health inspectors with the aid of police can invade any location in the country, seize and confiscate goods deemed unsafe (i.e. health supplements) and violate all constitutional rights of all parties involved

- it bypasses existing laws on privacy and confidentiality and explicitly exempts the Minister of Health and government inspectors from any kind of third-party oversight and accountability;

**Note: In the US the Secretary of Health & Human Services and any of her delegates were given the same immunity, and US citizens were denied their right to access the courts for redress.

- the need to publish regulations governing the activities of the inspectors is abolished, too;

- accused individuals have their access to the courts seriously limited, even the assumption of innocence is gone as violators are considered guilty until proven innocent with no recourse to any court of law.

- astronomical fines are to be handed out for crimes committed on the Minister’s assumption of guilt which requires no supporting evidence for independent examination;

- even the corporate shield would disappear, because corporate directors would be legally liable for the actions of their employees -; which actions would be deemed criminal solely on the opinion of the Minister, not by the courts;

Note: The US fake food safety bill differs in that it intentionally relieves corporations and most especially their employees and officers of any liability, allowing them to hide behind the corporate entity.

-this bill allows foreign governments and institutions, like CODEX and the World Trade Organization, to have the same powers over Canadians in all these matters outlined above, as if they were part of our own government.

Here in the US, with our government officials openly advocating and soliciting for multi-national corporate takeover of food production and supply and with opposition to this takeover marginalized and ignored, we have little chance of effectively thwarting the assault on agricultural production that is looming in the future. Canada appears to be following suit and is subjecting its citizens to World Trade Organization rules and regulations and openly advocating the takeover of food production in all its forms by industrialized operations which are more than willing to keep HSD and its corrupt partnering agencies awash in contracted funding.

Money talks and in our government agencies and offices it is virtually the only voice that is listened to.

Homeland Security, that bastion of domestic spies, paranoid fanatics and otherwise unemployable misfits has now come out with what it terms “natural security”. Under this umbrella of a newly created faux security system, food is now determined to be “at risk” and must be protected by arbitrary rules, regulations and oppressive enforcement because otherwise agricultural terrorists from parts unknown, neither identified nor identifiable, might somehow contaminate our food. Never mind that our food is constantly contaminated by bio-piracy outfits in their efforts to seize and control through highly suspect patented ownership of virtually anything and everything we might wish to eat.

Natural Security is a fictionally created model meant to do nothing other than to make HSD interference and meddling in food production seem to be somehow plausible.

The US fake food safety bill also added in its last pages the admonishment that nothing in the bill would interfere with World Trade Organization demands or agreements nor could it interfere with any free trade agreements present or future and also makes clear that WTO demands would supersede our laws and sovereignty.

With Canada now in line with US laws facilitating the takeover and control of food supply and production, it comes as no surprise that New Zealand, a highly productive agricultural economy, is next in line.

Five Health Care Issues To Watch in 2012

Not to be a Grinch, but "Road to Reform" doesn't celebrate the 12 days of Christmas.

We do, however, cherish the 10 years of staggered Affordable Care Act implementation.

It's the gift that keeps on giving for health wonks -- and columnists on the health reform beat.

After a packed 2011, here are five issues springing out of last year's reform law that bear watching in 2012.

1. The Supreme Court battle over ACA

It's an open question: Are those 10 years of reforms even constitutional?

The high court is poised to give its answer next year.

Health wonks already have circled March 26-March 28 on their calendars, when the justices will devote a record five-and-a-half hours of oral argument to discuss the Affordable Care Act's legality.

The current schedule:

  • Day 1: Whether the court can even rule on the ACA before 2014, when its major provisions take effect.
  • Day 2: Whether the ACA's individual mandate is constitutional.
  • Day 3: Whether striking down the mandate means striking down the law, and if the Medicaid expansion is permissible.

The case matches the Obama administration against the National Federation of Independent Business and 26 states. Based on split lower-court decisions and the current roster of justices, predictions about the high court's verdict -- whether the law will be upheld, partially struck or fully struck down -- are all over the map.

But veteran court watchers do offer one near-guarantee: A hearing in March means a ruling by June.

2. The payment reforms contained in ACA

Regardless of the law's long-term future, a bevy of ACA cost-control pilots and quality-improvement initiatives will formally debut in the coming weeks.

The sheer momentum of these initiatives could reshape how the industry pays for care.

"It should be a landmark year as several key programs -- the Pioneer ACO Model, the Shared Savings Program, the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Initiative and the Health Care Innovation Challenge -- all launch across 2012," the Advisory Board Company's Rob Lazerow told California Healthline.

(The Advisory Board Company produces California Healthline for the California HealthCare Foundation.)

Notably, the Pioneer program -- which includes six California organizations among its 32 participants -- goes online on Jan. 1. The HHS initiative is designed to reward health systems that are already prepared to assume new risks as "accountable care organizations" -- for example, by taking on more population management responsibilities.

Meanwhile, the $1 billion Innovation Challenge is a grant-making program that incents new workforce and care delivery models. Provider applications are due next month.

Lazerow, who's spoken with dozens of hospitals and health systems, added that "leaders of progressive organizations are excited" to choose from the range of voluntary payment innovations.

3. The health insurance exchanges mandated by ACA

The Obama administration's final rule on health insurance exchanges is slated to be released in early 2012, about two years before the Jan. 1, 2014 deadline for states to have them up and running.

Critics are saying that might be too late.

Launching a health insurance exchange will require months of technical work and considerable financial investment. As Health Access details, California is moving quickly to get its exchange up and running. But many other legislatures continue to wrestle -- especially with the law facing unresolved court challenges --  between crafting their own insurance exchanges or defaulting to a yet-to-be-defined federal alternative.

HHS is expected to announce details of that fallback option by June. But the actual federal exchange may not be ready by 2014, either.

"It will be an enormous uphill battle to get this thing launched on time," health industry consultant Robert Laszewski told Kaiser Health News. "[Federal officials] have a Herculean task, even if everyone was cooperating."

4. The health IT needed to bring ACA to life

The insurance exchanges aren't alone in needing an injection of technical know-how.

Achieving the ACA's promise of affordable, quality care will require health care providers to adopt sophisticated technologies that monitor patients and enable effective data transmission.

At the center of this effort is the government's meaningful use incentive program to encourage electronic health record adoption. John Lynn, a blogger at Health IT Blog Network, predicted that next year would see more of the same; 2012 "will be all about Meaningful Use: Meaningful Use, ACOs, Meaningful Use ... and a little more Meaningful Use covered in Meaningful Use," according to Lynn.

EHRs' rise also will allow providers to start combing through large health information sets. Writing in iHealthBeat -- California Healthline's sister publication -- Jane Sarasohn-Kahn notes that data analytics for addressing readmissions rates "should take off in 2012," given the ACA's financial incentives for controlling hospital readmission rates.

Meanwhile, health IT expert Brian Ahier flagged another pending development: The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT's pending rule on Nationwide Health Information Network (NwHIN) governance.

The proposed rule -- which ONC is expected to publish in early 2012 -- will address a number of key health IT policy and governance questions, Ahier told California Healthline. For example, it will establish "rules of the road" for all NwHIN participants to be confident in the health information exchanges' security and confidentiality, he said.

5. The election to decide ACA's future

Austin Frakt -- a health economist and blogger at The Incidental Economist -- has spent weeks writing about the Medicare premium-support debate, health care cost controls and a range of other reform topics.

Yet Frakt knows that next November is already casting a long shadow over his policy debates.

"As a policy wonk it pains me," Frakt said, "[but] the election is more important to long-term health policy than anything else in 2012."

Simply put, if President Obama wins re-election -- and the Supreme Court upholds the law -- the ACA is probably here to stay.

(It’s not inconceivable that economic issues or a major backlash could force Obama to retreat from a Democratic law; President George H.W. Bush oversaw a repeal of President Reagan's Medicare Catastrophic Care Act.)

But if a Republican takes the White House, the ACA's future is immediately in flux. Although it would be very difficult for that president to roll back the law entirely, given the steady implementation of reforms and the health industry's own push to keep the law alive.

And more than the ACA is in the balance next year. A Republican victory might mean a turn toward premium support models after all, with the Wyden-Ryan Medicare reform plan gaining favor among the GOP presidential candidates.

Publishing Break

"Road to Reform" will return in 2012 -- making predictions about what 2013 holds for health care, no doubt -- as California Healthline goes on a publishing break starting Friday.

And to help you have a very wonky holiday, here's one last national roundup of reform news for 2011.

Administration Actions

  • HHS on Monday rejected Michigan's request for a waiver from the medical-loss ratio regulations under the federal health reform law (Baker, "Healthwatch," The Hill, 12/19). Under the rule, private insurers must spend at least 80% in the individual market or 85% in the group market of their premium dollars on direct medical costs (Zigmond, Modern Healthcare, 12/19). Officials said insurers that are unable to meet the MLR standards could stop providing coverage, resulting in higher costs and fewer options for consumers (Anstett, Detroit Free Press, 12/19).
  • Last week, HHS rejected Florida's request for a waiver from the medical-loss ratio rule under the federal health reform law (Bandell, South Florida Business Journal, 12/15). Under the rule, private insurers must spend at least 80% in the individual market or 85% in the group market of their premium dollars on direct medical costs (Pecquet, "Healthwatch," The Hill, 12/15). Florida officials said the MLR rule it could disrupt the state's private health insurance market, which includes only a few companies but covers for about 840,000 individuals (Fineout, AP/Miami Herald, 12/15).
  • This week, the Department of Justice said that the federal health reform law has helped the department recover about $2.4 billion in health care fraud cases in 2011. The federal government recovered about $1.8 billion from drugmakers, which led to states recovering another $421 million from the industry in cases involving illegal pricing, false claims and FDA violations (Baker, "Healthwatch," The Hill, 12/19). Tony West of DOJ's civil division said a joint DOJ-HHS task force created by the Obama administration "essentially raised health care fraud to a cabinet-level priority" (Pickler, AP/Miami Herald, 12/19).
  • Last week, CMS released draft regulations that outline procedures for drugmakers and device makers to report payments to physicians, as required by the Physician Payment Sunshine Act under the federal health reform law (Yukhananov, Reuters, 12/14). Under the proposed rule, manufacturers covered by Medicare, Medicaid or CHIP must disclose all payments or transfers of items of value to physicians and teaching hospitals (CQ HealthBeat, 12/14). Manufacturers would face a fine of $150,000 for failing to report payments, and $1 million for knowingly failing to disclose the data (Reuters, 12/14). Public comments on the proposed rule will be accepted until Feb. 17 (CQ HealthBeat, 12/14).

Effects on States

  • The federal government faces substantial technical, political and financial obstacles in developing a health insurance exchange on behalf of states that do not set up their own. Through the federal exchange, individuals and small businesses will be able to access a website comparing insurance policy offerings by price, coverage and quality. In addition, the federal exchange must be able to help applicants determine if they are eligible for Medicaid, federal subsidies or various tax credits. The exchange also will include a Federal Data Services Hub that will unite data from different agencies, such as the Internal Revenue Service (Appleby, Kaiser Health News/Washington Post, 12/20).

In the States

  • In a study released recently, the Colorado Health Institute reported that the number of primary care physicians in the state would need to increase by between 83 and 141 by 2016 to meet the health care needs for the estimated 510,000 residents who will gain health coverage under the federal health reform law. Researchers said that when the law's individual mandate takes effect in 2014, as many as 380,000 residents will obtain coverage through private plans and an additional 130,000 individuals will obtain coverage through Medicaid, resulting in between 256,010 and 432,420 additional annual visits to physicians (Sealover, Denver Business Journal, 12/12).

On the Campaign Trail

  • Republican presidential candidate and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich's (Ga.) record on health care could put him at odds with many Republican voters. Interviews and records indicate that Gingrich that he supported the individual mandate in the federal health reform law, telling health care executives in a May 2009 conference call, "We believe there should be a must-carry; that is, everybody should have health insurance." He also has been active in promoting several recent programs that have given the federal government a larger role in the health care system, a prospect with which many Republicans disagree (Rutenberg/McIntire, New York Times, 12/16).

On the Hill

  • Last week, House Republicans acknowledged that they would not be able to repeal the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports Act before the end of the year but pledged to revive repeal efforts in 2012 (Pecquet [1], "Healthwatch," The Hill, 12/13). The long-term health care program, which was created by the federal health reform law, was intended to provide coverage to workers if they become unable to care for themselves because of injury or illness. GOP lawmakers said the House Ways and Means Committee will begin markup on a CLASS repeal proposal early next year (Pecquet [2], "Healthwatch," The Hill, 12/13).

Rolling Out Reform

  • The Obama administration's efforts to ease some of the federal health reform law's requirements on insurers, employers, physicians and other groups has garnered "cautious praise" from some overhaul opponents. For example, the administration has exempted nearly 1,500 employers and health plans from measures that prohibit caps on benefit and granted waivers to exempt insurers from medical-loss ratio rules. Observers say the efforts could alleviate the possible political backlash during President Obama's re-election campaign, but many allies of his administration are frustrated with the strategy (Levey, Los Angeles Times, 12/14).
  • In its first year, CMS' Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation launched 12 initiatives -- from accountable care organizations to primary care projects -- that are reshaping how people think about the U.S. health care system, according to a recent Commonwealth Fund report. The report outlined CMMI's achievements over the past year, highlighting a dozen initiatives that have helped the health care industry move toward more coordinated, integrated care. The federal health reform law allotted $10 billion to CMMI, which was launched in November 2010 to help it test payment and service delivery models that aim to reduce spending and boost care quality (Fiegl, American Medical News, 12/15).

Studying Its Effects

  • In a survey released last week, the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions reported that nearly 75% of physicians are concerned about physician shortages, longer wait times and crowded emergency departments as more people gain health coverage through the federal health reform law. Nine out of 10 respondents polled also believe that their insurance reimbursements will be lower because of the law. The poll of 501 physicians also found that about 44% believe the health reform law was "a good start," but another 44% said the law was "a step in the wrong direction" (Radnofsky, "Health Blog," Wall Street Journal, 12/13).
  • Last week, CDC's National Center for Health Statistics reported that the number of uninsured young adults nationwide has dropped by 2.5 million since the federal health reform law took effect in 2010. A provision in the overhaul allows dependents up to age 26 to remain on their parents' health insurance plans. According to HHS policy analysts, about 10.5 million young adults ages 19 to 25 were uninsured when the provision took effect in the third quarter of 2010, but that figure dropped to about eight million by the second quarter of 2011 (Alonso-Zaldivar, AP/San Francisco Chronicle, 12/14).
  • In a study released last week, the UC-Berkley Center for Labor Research and Education reported that more than one million additional U.S. residents could gain health coverage if a provision in the federal health reform law is modified. The provision stipulates that if workers contribute more than 9.5% of their incomes toward employer-sponsored health benefits, they qualify for federal subsidies to purchase health plans through state insurance exchanges (Pecquet, "Healthwatch," The Hill, 12/13). The report recommended that the provision be modified to determine affordability based on the cost of a family plan (Bunis, CQ HealthBeat, 12/13).

America's farmlands to be carpet-bombed with Vietnam-era Agent Orange chemical if Dow petition approved

(NaturalNews) A key chemical of one of the most horrifying elements of the Vietnam War -- Agent Orange -- may soon be unleashed on America's farmlands. Considered by world nations to be a "Weapon of Mass Destruction" (WMD), Agent Orange was dropped in the millions of gallons on civilian populations during the Vietnam War in order to destroy foliage and poison North Vietnamese soldiers. The former president of the Vietnamese Red Cross, Professor Nhan, described it as, "...a massive violation of human rights of the civilian population, and a weapon of mass destruction."

A key chemical in that weapon -- 2,4-D -- is just months away from being dropped on agricultural land across the United States. Dow AgroSciences, which along with DuPont and Monsanto is heavily invested in genetically engineered crops, has petitioned the U.S. government to deregulate a variety of GE corn that's resistant to 2,4-D, which comprises 50% of the recipe of Agent Orange.

NaturalNews broke this story yesterday and published the details:
http://www.naturalnews.com/034492_D...

If the petition is approved by Washington, it would turn America's corn fields into chemical warfare zones targeted for mass pesticide poisoning with 2,4-D chemicals. The corn, of course, would be immune to 2,4-D, so it would uptake the chemical and transport it right into the structure of the corn kernels, creating "Agent Orange corn bombs" that would be chemically unleashed when consumed by human beings.

This is just the latest example of how industrial chemical giants and GMO companies of the world are committing acts of genocide against innocents. The introduction of 2,4-D-resistant GE corn is, essentially, an act of war against humanity.

Food crops sprayed with chemical weapons

Agent Orange, which contains roughly 50% 2,4-D, is also cited in numerous war crimes lawsuits. Even the BBC has reported on it:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/3...

The use of such chemicals on civilian targets is a violation of the 1907 Hague Convention, the 1927 Geneva Convention, and the 1949 Geneva Convention (http://www.iadllaw.org/en/node/353).

The International Tribunal of Conscience in Support of the Vietnamese Victims of Agent Orange has published a document briefly describing the war crimes committed by the U.S. government in its use of Agent Orange: http://www.iadllaw.org/files/charge...
That document states:

The chemical warfare waged by the United States against Vietnam though the use of Agent Orange and other dioxin laced chemicals from 1961 to 1971 has caused severe, massive and prolonged consequences for the environment, ecology and health of the people of Vietnam.

See the photos of Agent Orange victims

First Vietnam, now America

Even walking around America today, many Americans are born as mutants thanks to the chemicals used in foods, medicines, lawn care and personal care products. That crime against humanity is about to be made far, far worse with the unleashing of 2,4-D on America's farmlands.

The gross deformities, birth defects, neurological disorders and physical retardation we have seen in Vietnamese children affected by Agent Orange could soon arrive at America's doorstep thanks to 2,4-D.

Dow, of course, is widely regarded as one of the most evil corporations on the planet, having already poisoned countless victims with toxic chemicals. Remember the Bhopal pesticide factory explosion in India? That was Union Carbide, owned by Dow. It killed thousands of people, maimed tens of thousands and injured over half a million (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhopal...).

Read more about Bhopal: http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/...
And learn more about Dow here:
http://www.thetruthaboutdow.org/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dow_Ch...

Remember: If chemical weapons are used to produce food, then those who consume such foods become casualties of war.
Food production was once an honorable art, but at the hands of greed-driven globalists, it quickly became a system of profit seeking and then a tool for corporate domination over the People. Now it has become a weapon of mass destruction, and it is being used to decimate the health of both the population and the farmlands.

Recession Induced Suicides?

I shouldn't be writing about suicides on Christmas Day but I am
stunned by what I found out during the last three days...

It started off when Arthur, first son, called me from Oceanside,
California three days ago. He had said, in  San Diego there about three suicides mentioned on television about every four days. It made me so sad to hear this.

Here in Las Vegas three days ago, it was reported 300 residential eviction notices are given out each and every day in this city.

One Las Vegas female attorney on this same television show said, "I work with people who are losing their homes due to  foreclosure... among my clients 29 have committed suicide due to either losing their homes and or foreclosure."

Then the newscast flashed to a Las Vegas house. In this house a man
knew the constable was on the way to give him a foreclosure notice.
The man  shot himself in the head just before the constable arrived!
In another scenario a scribbled, penciled note on plain paper... a man
had written, "I am sorry we have to do this but we do"... and he
then stabbed his wife, his son and shot himself in the head due to
financial troubles.

Another Las Vegas man with financial woes, drove his wife, and son to an area about two miles from where they lived. He then shot his
wife and son in their car and turned the gun on himself.

In other words, how many thousands of more suicides are we not
hearing about where people have taken this way out???

It's got to be a huge number… and I am certain Las Vegas is mostly
trying to keep these various suicides under wraps.

Arthur also has told me he sees cars with out-of-state license
plates arriving in Oceanside, California all the time. People are
relocating to Southern California trying to find work... when
there is no work. Times are really and truly tough these days.
I just feel  so sad for these people there are no words for it.

In any event in spite of all the bad news, I hope you and  your son enjoy a Merry Christmas.

Hugs,  Judy

The ongoing economic meltdown has had a devastating effect on American families. With double-digit unemployment still lingering, companies cutting corners in every which way, salary cuts and foreclosures continuing at a rapid pace, not to mention vanishing nest eggs, anxiety is at an all-time high.

Now, researchers are starting to wonder if the ongoing recession is beginning to trigger a spike in suicide rates. Considering that the unemployed are two to three times more likely to commit suicide, with the risk rising the longer you are unemployed, it’s not surprising to learn that areas like Macomb County, Mich., where  the official unemployment is at 13.7 percent, saw an almost 40 percent rise in suicides last year, according to The Washington Independent.

In online forums such as Unemployed-Friends, the topic of suicide comes up often, with posters sharing stories of the unemployed, underwater on their mortgages or facing repossession of their cars and furniture saying they can’t take it anymore. If the tales (some apocryphal) are true, they wouldn’t be that surprising. Suicides rose about 20 percent during the Great Depression and while joblessness does not cause suicide – feelings of depression, hopelessness, substance abuse and emotional struggles do.

Americans aren’t alone in this disturbing trend, with Ireland reporting a 25 percent rise in suicides last year and Japan reporting that one in five citizens contemplated suicide as the recession in that country deepened.

And remember that the actual unemployment figures are much higher than reported because once someone drops of the unemployment rolls, quits looking for work or accepts under-employment they are not longer counted.  Actual U.S. unemployment is closer to between 21 or 22 percent’ between 8.5 and 9.5 as officially reported.

This trend and studies reinforcing the obvious have been written about beginning in 2009 and 2010 but is somehow being shoved under the rug or ignored by the media.  After all it wouldn’t look good for Obama’;s re-election!

Pine Needles Are An Excellent Source of Vitamin C

Foragers like to make tea from White pine. It is reported that a cup of pine needle tea has the same amount of vitamin C as half a dozen lemons.  It also contains a healthy dose of Vitamin A.

Several other varieties of pine work just as well. Each does have its own flavor. I use honey or sugar as a sweetener.

A couple of warnings:

Some people may be allergic to this tea..

Pregnant women should avoid this tea. It can cause abortions to take place within a day.

Some evergreens like yews are poisonous. Make sure you have the right tree's needles. The people working at health stores are trained to sell the products they have on their shelves. Or if you hook up with a forager, they'll know about this pine needle tea. They'll know plenty of places nearby to pick more than you could drink in a life time.

Too much vitamin C causes some people to have loose bowels.

Source(s):  Forager. Master Gardener. Metzger, Gibbons or the Foxfire books should contain some additional information..

How to Make Tea From Pine Needles

Grab some fresh pine needles. You do not need very many needles for one cup, just one small bundle will do. Make sure that you grab needles that are fresh and green; the brown needles will not have many nutrients left in them.  (Depending how many needles you used in your water the tea will range any where from a yellow to reddish tinge. The darker the more vitamin C.)

Boil water and place the pine needles in the tea pot. Allow it to steep for 30 minutes. The more that the pine needles steep, the more nutrients will leech out into the tea.

Pour your pine needle tea and enjoy. You now have a cup of herbal tea that is high in vitamin C and other beneficial nutrients, tasty, and free.

Radiation Poisoning? "Scientists Fear Entire Ocean Affected"

Symptoms Similar To Radiation Poisoning Killing Seals/Walruses - Russia, Alaska, Canada - Scientists Fear Could Be Infecting Entire Ocean

From link to hisz.rsoe.hu
"The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration declared a recent rash of seal deaths to be an "unusual mortality event" on Tuesday. More than 60 seals have died and 75 found diseased in Alaska with skin sores and patchy hair loss. The Fish and Wildlife Service has also identified diseased and dead walruses."
"In most cases, necropsies and lab tests have revealed skin lesions, fluid in the lungs, white spots on the liver, and abnormal growths in the brain. Some of the seals and walruses have undersized lymph nodes, possibly a sign of weakened immune systems."
From link to hisz.rsoe.hu
"A mysterious and potentially widespread disease is thought to have contributed to the deaths of dozens of ringed seals along Alaska's Arctic coast. Scores more are sickened, some so ill that skin lesions bleed when touched. The animals are an important subsistence food, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has proposed listing them as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act."
""Right now we're leaning toward it being a virus, and that could weaken their immune system,""
"Reports of nearly 150 other seals with the illness have come in from villages outside Barrow, population 4,200, as well as from Chukotka, Russia, and Tuktoyuktak, a village on the northwestern corner of Canada, Herreman said."
"He's concerned the illness will spread up the food chain, affecting other animals and hunters near Kotzebue Sound."
""I'm scared they might pass it on one way or another and the whole ocean could be affected," Shiedt said. Folks in the Barrow region also are worried. Many of the Slope's Inupiat residents are about to begin hunting for seals, and some are wondering if they are safe to eat, Herreman said."
"The sickest ones don't move much on the beaches and they have blisters or wounds that bleed easily, including around the nose, eyes and especially the rear flippers. Others have lost much of their hair. "They're not deathly skinny. It's not like they're dying from malnutrition."

New Study: Monsanto’s Herbicide May Be Contaminating The World’s Drinking Water

In a groundbreaking study published in Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry last month, glyphosate, the active ingredient in the herbicide “Roundup,” is flowing freely into the groundwater in areas where it is being applied. The researchers found that 41% of the 140 groundwater samples taken from Catalonia Spain, had levels beyond the limit of quantification – indicating that, despite manufacturer’s claims, it does not break down rapidly in the environment, and is accumulating there in concerning quantities.

Why Is Groundwater Contamination An Important Finding?

Groundwater is water located beneath the ground surface, that supplies aquifers, wells and springs.  If a chemical like glyphosate is mobile enough to get into the groundwater and is intrinsically resistant to being biodegraded (after all, it is being used to kill/degrade living things – not the other way around), significant environmental exposures to humans using the water are inevitable. After all, according to the USGS, 88,000 tons were used in the US in 2007 alone.

Keep in mind that glyphosate is considered by the EPA as a Class III toxic substance, fatal to an adult at 30 grams, and has been linked to over 20 adverse health effects in the peer-reviewed, biomedical literature.

Widely Used Herbicide Commonly Found in Rain and Streams in the Mississippi River Basin

Excerpt:

Glyphosate, also known by its tradename Roundup, is commonly found in rain and rivers in agricultural areas in the Mississippi River watershed, according to two new USGS studies released this month.

Glyphosate is used in almost all agricultural and urban areas of the United States. The greatest glyphosate use is in the Mississippi River basin, where most applications are for weed control on genetically-modified corn, soybeans and cotton. Overall, agricultural use of glyphosate has increased from less than 11,000 tons in 1992 to more than 88,000 tons in 2007.

"Though glyphosate is the mostly widely used herbicide in the world, we know very little about its long term effects to the environment," says Paul Capel, USGS chemist and an author on this study. "This study is one of the first to document the consistent occurrence of this chemical in streams, rain and air throughout the growing season. This is crucial information for understanding where management efforts for this chemical would best be focused."

In these studies, Glyphosate was frequently detected in surface waters, rain and air in areas where it is heavily used in the basin. The consistent occurrence of glyphosate in streams and air indicates its transport from its point of use into the broader environment.

Additionally, glyphosate persists in streams throughout the growing season in Iowa and Mississippi, but is generally not observed during other times of the year.  The degradation product of glyphosate, aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA), which has a longer environmental lifetime, was also frequently detected in streams and rain.

Detailed results of this glyphosate research are available in "Occurrence and fate of the herbicide glyphosate and its degradate aminomethylphosphonic acid in the atmosphere," published in volume 30 of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry and in "Fate and transport of glyphosate and aminomethylphosphonic acid in surface waters of agricultural basins," published online in Pest Management Science. Copies of the reports are available from the journals or from Paul Capel (capel@usgs.gov).

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

Since I was 17, I'd had chronic pain, doctors had labeled as fibromyalgia.  It was a torturous existence, and sleep was difficult to come by.  By the time of the experience and even long before, I was sleeping just fifteen minutes at a time, and then I'd have to move and stretch in bed, as it was too painful to hold still for long.  So, I was constantly tired.  My doctor had an idea for a medication that wasn't typically used for sleep, but might have the side-effect of numbing me.  I noticed that whenever I took it, even in the tiniest amounts, my nose would swell and my breathing became too shallow.  It was scary and uncomfortable, but the relief from pain came, so the temptation to take it was great.  I informed the doctor that I believed I was having an allergic reaction to the medication and he chuckled and said that my body simply needed to "get used to the med" and that the amount I was taking was so low, it couldn't possibly do anything.  He asked me to take three whole pills.  I had been taking one half of a half.  One night, after a week of agonizing pain and no sleep, I considered the doctor's prescription of three whole pills and decided to take them all and trust him.

I went to bed after taking all three and within minutes felt myself begin to go numb.  Then the inside of my nasal passages swelled up and I couldn't breathe at all.  I couldn't even open my mouth I was struggling to get air, but could not.  My entire body felt like it was mummified.  I couldn't call out for help, and it only took a couple of minutes before, the struggle was over.

PG&E Shuts Off Power to Sickened Families 2 Weeks Before Christmas

See: PG&E Threatens to Disconnect Families Protecting Their Health (Part 1)

[News links follow.] Frightened by the prospect of a large scale public backlash against their stupid meter program, the cowards at Pacific Grinch and Ebeneezer have cut off power to at least 3 people in California who had been sickened by ‘smart’ meter radiation and had acted reasonably to have a safe analog meter replaced on their homes. [UPDATE: As of 2pm, Dec. 14, three more persons have been cut off by PG&E.]

Although PG&E has a policy of not disconnecting anyone during the holidays, they made a special exception for these families.   Apparently PG&E feels it is more appropriate to force people to shiver in the cold and stumble around in the dark than simply replace an analog meter on their home (which of course they have millions of).

Seventy-five year old Peggy Lindsay, who spoke about the ‘smart’ meter’s toll on her health and returned her meter last Wednesday to PG&E- is one of those who has been disconnected.

We’re worried about her safety, living alone, having been left in the cold and dark in the middle of December.  So far, none of our ‘elected leaders’ have intervened on her behalf.

Monise and Peter Sheehan made every effort to get PG&E to work with them to eliminate the terrible ringing that had plagued their house ever since the meter went in.

PG&E refused to fix the problem, and the Sheehans took reasonable action to replace their meter with an accurate analog model.   They got home last night and their home was dark and cold.   They were interviewed by local station KION news last night.

We need to be clear about this situation.  The utilities are acting like a criminal syndicate, switching off power to those suffering from their unsafe and poorly executed smart meter ‘deployment.’

They are getting increasingly nervous- and they should be.

What do we do?  The utilities are expecting that people will back down if they switch the power off.  They are expecting that people care more about their electricity and their gadgets than their ability  to sleep at night or live without headaches and tinnitus.

Having spoken to thousands of people who are suffering from these meters, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say- THEY ARE WRONG.  It is no time to back down and allow the noose of pulsed EMF to slip silently back over our heads.

If you are lucky enough to have had the foresight to lock up your analog meter before they came around, you might be reading these developments and thinking to your self, “well these people removed the meter- that’s why PG&E cut them off.

Surely I’m safe with my locks and chains or my sign- I even called the opt out line.”

I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but they want to switch off your electricity as well if you refuse to allow them to install a ‘smart’ meter- regardless of what you are reading about a possible opt out.  PG&E admits so themselves in a recent filing:

“For customers who continue to refuse to allow access to the meter, PG&E will have no choice but to temporarily discontinue service in accordance with existing Rules.”

If you still have your analog meter, make sure it is locked up and begin to make plans to live off the grid, or generate power locally with your neighbors. It’s not as hard as you think if you are willing to make a few lifestyle adjustments.

Convince your local authority- or perhaps general assembly- to take back the power and establish a municipal utility.  For now (if you are able- at least for part of the day), turn off your power at the breaker in solidarity with those being plunged into darkness.

Have a romantic candlelit dinner.   You may even feel a whole lot better in your home.

And no matter what your electrical situation is, now is the time to unite together and take care of each other- take care of your community- making sure that your elderly neighbor has enough wood and candles- perhaps a propane fridge- to make it through safely.

Our government/ utility is failing pretty miserably in this regard.

Monise Sheehan (left) came home to a dark home on Monday- retaliation for speaking out publicly about the damage PG&E has done to their health, and taking action to remove the hazard on their property. The others have been threatened with disconnection.

This threat is not isolated to California.  In the last few days, we’ve heard reports that more than 200 families in Minnesota who refused wireless water meters have been cut off.

Other scattered reports of disconnections from around the US have also been coming in to StopSmartMeters.Org

Let’s be clear about what’s going on here. This is an attack by PG&E and other utilities- who are owned by the 1% on Wall Street like Goldman Sachs, against the 99% whose exorbitant utility bills lead to investment returns of more than 11% in some cases.

This is when you can’t even get 1% from a savings account and many homes are being foreclosed on.

The rich are getting richer and the rest of us are left choosing between a headache and a blackout.  Welcome to 2011.

Health Hazards of the Holiday Season

The holiday season and new year celebrations are just round the corner. However, the excitement and stress of preparation and celebration can lead to certain unwanted health problems. Here is a compilation of common holiday hazards to avoid by taking certain precautions.

At last, it's time for the long awaited holiday season merriment. There are a number of errands to do before the holidays begin, such as cleaning, shopping, decorating the home, and finishing work assignments. In the whole process, you are likely to put a lot of pressure on your health and fitness and ignore your personal safety. I am listing out some commonly occurring holiday health problems and issues that can mar your festive spirit.

Hidden Holiday Health Hazards

Work Assignments and Examinations: Stress
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Vve's parties are surely exciting. However, there is usually a lot of work to be finished in your office before the holidays start. As far as children are concerned, examinations are generally scheduled to take place right before the vacations begin. The haste to finish all the work early and the high anxiety levels to perform well in the examinations can take a physical and mental toll on adults and children alike.

All I am suggesting is that you take one thing at a time. Avoid exerting yourself by trying to finish work and preparing for the festivities simultaneously.

Cleaning and Decorating: Wounds, Fractures, etc
It is time to clean your homes thoroughly at the onset of the holidays. The overall excitement of the festivities can make you negligent about the safety precautions while decorating the house. In case, you wish to climb and hang the decorations or clean the attic, make sure to use ladders and equipment that is safe for use.

As a precaution, scrutinize all the fittings and bolts of the equipment. This will help you to avoid physical injury in the form of cuts, wounds and fractures.

Shopping: Stress
Holiday shopping and gifts are just unavoidable. It starts with plans for buying gifts for family and friends, browsing through the Internet for the best shopping deals, and visiting the malls during annual Christmas sales. These shopping activities may sound exciting but they are likely to cause severe stress and body ache. A traditional solution for this problem is to take a relaxing bath with Epsom salts after you return home from your long shopping spree.

Doctors suggest consumption of a lot of water, juices, and green tea to reduce the stress level. Personally, I suggest you to carefully draw up a shopping list well in advance so that you do not miss out on any item from your shopping list.

Christmas Tree: Allergy and Skin Irritation
For some of you, Christmas can never be perfect without a bedecked Christmas tree in the living room. Yes, Christmas trees are surely a sign of festivities, but these trees are likely to trigger a lot of breathing and asthmatic problems if they stay inside your home for long. A freshly cut Christmas tree is likely to harbor considerable dust and mold on its needles approximately a week after it is erected. The needles are also likely to cause breathing problems and skin irritation to some people. The same applies to mistletoe too.

I, therefore suggest that you purchase the tree a day or two before Christmas and dispose it off immediately after the festival time. Alternately, buy an artificial Christmas tree which can be erected and decorated to look like a real life tree. There are options to buy artificial mistletoe too.

Holiday Decorations: Allergy and Sore Throat
Do we really bother to carefully pack away the colorful tree decoration after each Christmas? Most of us don't! And all through the rest of the year, these decorations go on collecting dust and mites in some forgotten corner of the attic or the garage. Once the holidays approach, we start looking for the decorative hangings and unknowingly get exposed to the dust. The result? Dust allergy, running nose, sore throat, severe headache and watery eyes right in the middle of the celebrations!

This problem can be controlled by playing safe and storing the decorations in a sealed bag in a clean cabinet. Make sure to cover your nose and mouth with a scarf when you open the bag to retrieve them. If they are washable, then wash them immediately in a solution of soap and warm water. If the decorations are delicate, then place them in the freezer for ten minutes to kill all the dust mites. Carefully clean away all possible dust from the decorations for your own safety.

Lights and Crackers: Fire and Burns
Fairy lights are usually suspended from the external roof of the house and are also hung on Christmas trees. Negligent handling of these electrical fittings can be a reason for house-fires and electric shocks. Similarly, firecrackers make for a lot of fun and entertainment while you celebrate and welcome the new year. However, unsupervised usage of crackers might cause burns and physical injuries to people watching the cracker shows.

It is better to play safe and handle the electrical fittings and lights only if you have sufficient knowledge about them. If not, it is best to opt for help from an electrician. As far as crackers are concerned, follow utmost care when lighting them. Follow all possible safety precautions and keep your children at a safe distance when the crackers are lit.

Candles: Headache and Nausea
Aromatic candles available in the market are bound to add an amazing long-lasting scent in your house. However, these aromas are created on account of the toxic chemicals and poisonous substances added to the wax candles. Though pleasant initially, aroma candles can cause a lot of headache and nausea to people.

An ideal way to overcome this problem is to use non-aromatic candles throughout the festivities. Also, make use of some safe room fresheners, potpourri, and fragrant fresh flowers all over your home.

Feast Food and Wine: Heart Problems and Weight Gain
A typical foodie is likely to starve himself so as to build up an appetite for the specially prepared Thanksgiving feast and Christmas feast. And on the day of the feast, this foodie is likely to binge 30% to 40% more food than his regular appetite. A typical feast comprises roasted turkey, beef, ham, roasted potatoes, cakes, puddings and wines. All of these, excessively add to the calorie intake of a person leading to problems such as poor digestion, acidity, heart burn, weight gain, rise in cholesterol and heart problems.

The best bet is to eat in moderate proportions daily so as to control your appetite. Also, it makes sense to be calorie and cholesterol conscious and eat small proportions of food at least 4 times a day throughout the holiday season.

Sweets and Candies: Choking
Choking by consumption of Christmas sweets and candies is quite common among children who generally have a very narrow esophagus. The excessive temptation of eating sweets is likely to cause choking and respiratory problems in children which may mar the festive spirit at your home.

It is best to monitor the quantity of sweets consumed by them all the time. Make sure to buy sweets and candies in smaller sizes that can be safely swallowed by your children.

Late Night Partying: Vehicle Accidents
Yes, this is the worst health hazard of the holiday season. Excessive drinking and late night partying is a likely cause of disastrous and fatal vehicular accidents. There is a notable rise in consumption of party drugs during this time which can cause drug addiction and severe damage to the body. There is also a steep rise in opting for unprotected sexual encounters during the parties and celebrations which are a likely cause of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.

Partying is definitely fun. However, one needs to exercise caution before following a path which can be fatal for you and your family. Trust your instincts and opt for utmost safety during the parties.
The holiday season calls for family reunions and cherishing the wonderful life that we have. It is best to carefully carry out all your festive plans and activities to keep the happiness and cheerfulness alive. So do take care of yourself and your family!

PG&E Threatens to Disconnect Families Protecting Their Health

StopSmartMeters.org December 12, 2011 Bianca Carn, Santa Cruz mother of 2, is now...

Hundreds of Households Having SmartMeters Removed as Health Toll Mounts

Capitola, CA- Last Wednesday, more than a dozen Santa Cruz County residents- including mothers and grandmothers- assembled outside Pacific Gas and Electric’s Capitola Payment Center with their unwanted wireless electric meters in hand, and spoke about what prompted them to defy their utility and replace the ‘smart’ meter on their homes with widely available analog meters.

After being interviewed by the media, they quietly got in line and waited for the next clerk. But before they could speak to anyone, PG&E called out half a dozen Capitola Police Officers, and kicked everyone out of the office.

The unwanted ‘Smart’ Meters were left piled up on the counter. Late last week, PG&E sent letters threatening to disconnect power to those who returned their ‘smart’ meters on Wednesday, including a family of four with headaches and a single woman in her seventies.

The dozen residents who assembled last week outside a PG&E office just 30 miles south of Silicon Valley are the most visible part of a growing movement of people suffering from insomnia, headaches, tinnitus and other symptoms linked to smart meters- fed up with being ignored by the monopoly utilities and state regulatory agencies (who have received over 10,000 health complaints about the new meters).

Many have begun taking matters into their own hands and having their smart meters removed from their homes. Their efforts have been bolstered by online videos showing how to do the switch, and ‘smart meter replacement kits’ are now being sold online for $49.95. (See FreedomTaker.com)

Despite thousands of threats, not one household has had their power disrupted for refusing or removing a ‘smart’ meter in California. According to many legal experts, utilities do not have the legal right to force a carcinogen on people’s homes. Nevertheless, the threats continue.

Last week’s events in Capitola should send shivers down the spines of utility executives, who are facing a growing backlash against their ‘smart’ meter programs.

While investment banking and tech firms are looking forward to potential profits of $49 billion from rolling out the ‘smart grid’ worldwide- mainly through utility rate hikes- increasingly customers are rejecting ‘smart’ meters as surveillance devices, fire hazards, and as dangerous sources of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation- what the World Health Organization now identifies as a Class 2B carcinogen.

“The ‘smart’ meter was installed outside my children’s bedroom,” says Bianca Carn resident of Santa Cruz and mother of an 8 and a 6 year old.

“Since the meter was installed, they are both complaining of headaches. I asked PG&E multiple times to take it off- they refused. So we hired an electrician and had it removed.”

PG&E’s ‘smart’ meters emit radiation bursts that are more powerful than wireless consumer devices and have been measured at levels that would exceed safety limits for RF exposure in much of Europe.

“PG&E does not care about health and safety and does not respect private property rights,” said Joshua Hart Director of Santa Cruz County based Stop Smart Meters! “Threatening to turn off the power to a family who are simply trying to protect their children from radiation-induced headaches- two weeks before Christmas- is about as Scrooge-like as you can get.”

The County of Santa Cruz, all 4 municipalities in the county, and 42 other local governments throughout the state have demanded a halt to deployment because of health damage, privacy violations, and safety concerns.

At the time Santa Cruz County was “deployed” with ‘smart’ meters, a County Ordinance prohibiting their installation was in force and PG&E chose to ignore it. According to Hart, “it appears that PG&E’s chickens are coming home to roost as hundreds are returning unwanted utility equipment that was installed illegally in the first place.”

Alert: Hallmark now distributing vaccine shot compliance cards targeting newborns across America

(NaturalNews) The Arizona Department of Health Services wants to remind parents to inject their newborn babies with neurologically-damaging chemical adjuvants found in vaccines, and to aid in this effort, they've teamed up with Hallmark, the famous greeting card company.

Hallmark has designed and provided a special "vaccine shot tracking" card -- an "Immunization Record" -- that features the following vaccine propaganda:

Bet you're as proud as you can be of that new little branch
on your family tree!

One of the most important roles as a parent is to make sure your baby is immunized. Keeping your little one healthy mean starting immunizations by two months of age.

...The following immunizations are recommended before the age of 2...

See the inside of the card yourself at:
http://www.naturalnews.com/images/F...

And the outside of the card here:
http://www.naturalnews.com/images/F...

The outside also adds:
Hallmark is committed to encouraging childhood immunizations... for additional information on the program, go to www.Hallmark.com and search "for America's babies"

For America's babies?

Maybe you should instead search for "death for America's babies." That's what these vaccines often cause, of course: Death, seizures, neurological damage, autism, fevers, vomiting and much more (http://www.naturalnews.com/029586_A...)

I find it fascinating that Hallmark, a greeting card company that usually churns out feel-good blessings and warm fuzzy limericks is now openly advocating chemicals that kill babies.
And they can't even claim to be "saving" more children than the vaccines are killing, either. Because it turns out that unvaccinated children are overall far healthier than vaccinated children! (http://www.naturalnews.com/033858_u...)

Targeting Latino newborns? Si! Se puede!

But of course, we know the real agenda of pushing vaccines to new moms in Arizona. I lived in Tucson for many years and I've seen the local politics at work. Arizona is a state that's overrun by the financial costs of providing medical care to so-called "illegals" -- undocumented residents who pay little or no taxes but often burden the state's coffers for hospital expenditures.

What I see in this Hallmark vaccine shot propaganda card is an effort to promote widespread infertility across the Latino population of Arizona. That's what vaccines do best, of course -- induce infertility in both men and women. That's why Bill Gates, the ultra-wealthy globalist behind the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, specifically stated that vaccines and health care services could be used to "reduce population by 10 - 15 percent." (http://www.naturalnews.com/029911_v...)

Perhaps Arizona Governor Jan Brewer agrees with that assessment. What better way to reduce Arizona's financial burden on the Latino community than to make sure as many as possible get sterilized at the earliest available opportunity?

All the better that the entire campaign can be shrouded in the language of "caring for your precious little baby." You mean the baby that cost the state of Arizona a hundred thousand dollars in emergency childbirth expenses that will never be repaid? That's the kind of baby the state wants to prevent from ever happening again, it turns out. That's what the state politicians are saying behind closed doors, in reality.

They figure you can't just force all the Latinos to be sterilized by injection. So instead, you have to trick them into sterilizing their own little children. Nothing halts the family tree as quickly as a few rounds of voluntary vaccine shots for momma and daughter. And heck, even if the shots don't kill 'em, the child will have a weakened immune system which translates into a lifetime of Big Pharma revenue from sickness and disease.

Everyone AROUND your baby should get vaccinated, too!

Continuing the propaganda push, the AZ Department of Health Services includes yet another piece of printed propaganda, claiming that everyone around your baby must also get vaccinated with multiple vaccine shots.

See that insert here:
http://www.naturalnews.com/images/A...

So now you're supposed to push every member of the family to go get vaccinated for the benefit of the baby!

See how this works? So cousin Jorge, who is about to impregnate another Latino teen, can get sterilized too. It's sort of like a viral form of socially-enforced sterilization, brought to you by the wonderful people at the state of Arizona and Hallmark, headquartered in Kansas City.

Newborns targeted in Colorado, too

NaturalNews has learned that Hallmark is also conspiring with Colorado officials to push vaccine shot compliance cards onto new moms across that state, too.

In a recent press release, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment proclaimed it would:

"...distribute custom-made Hallmark greeting cards statewide to welcome newborns and inform new parents about the importance of childhood immunizations." (http://www.cdphe.state.co.us/releas...)
No doubt other states are also working on similar programs to distribute Hallmark's vaccine compliance propaganda to the new moms in their own states.

The great medical IQ test

What's most interesting about all this is that people who choose to receive vaccine shots are all winning the Darwin award by effectively removing their own future generations from the gene pool. These vaccines create a trans-generational sterilization burden that increases with each successive generation until it brings newborns to the point of genetic extinction (http://www.naturalnews.com/033406_v...). That's why I've called flu shots a "great IQ test" to see who is stupid enough to actually take them. In a way, the globalists are actually trying to reverse the "moronification" of the human race by eliminating low-IQ people from the future of human fertility.

And it turns out that gullible people who inject their own children with toxic vaccines come from all races and nationalities: White, black, Latino, Asian, you name it! That's why vaccines, as they are irresponsibly pushed on children today with the use of brain-damaging chemical adjuvants, are really a crime against humanity.
You can surround these crimes with warm and fuzzy language in a Hallmark card, but that doesn't make it any less of a crime, of course. It's still a chemical assault on an innocent child, and that's a crime no matter how many fuzzy bears and cuddly cartoons you slap on the front of a greeting card.

In the mean time, I recommend we all boycott Hallmark for their role in pushing dangerous and often deadly vaccines onto newborns in Arizona. It's yet another example of shameful corporate behavior that betrays the trust of the people while serving the selfish interests of the State.

"People 70 and over will not be treated under Obamacare… and you thought DEATH PANELS were gone"– Updated

Mark Levin received a phone call Tuesday night from a brain surgeon who had just been to Washington DC, learning about the requirements the government has in place with the Obama Health Care Plan. This is a must read. The surgeon says that if you are over 70, you will get “comfort care,” and that surgery can be performed “if” the government panel deems it necessary. It also reveals that the government language used to describe patients is “units.”

If you are over 70 and have a stroke, you can and will be denied surgery. The documents referred to by the caller are not public yet.

Here is the youtube of that call, posted by warrenherrick.

A transcription of that phone call appeared on Free Republic, posted by ‘Future Useless Eater.’ Thank you, FUE.

Transcript…

Caller: I heard you talking earlier about the government not knowing how to make pencils, and then you talked about brain surgeons, and I happen to be a brain surgeon, so I found your topic very interesting. And actually, I just returned from Washington DC, where we were reading over what the Obama Health Care Plan would be for advanced neurosurgery for patients over 70, which we all found quite disturbing.

Because as our population gets older the majority of our patients ARE getting over 70, which requires stroke therapy and aneurysm therapy, and basically what the document stated, was if you’re over 70 and you come in to an emergency room and you’re on government supported care, that you get ‘comfort care’.

Levin: wait an minute… what? what document? what’s the source for this?

Caller: This is the Obama’s new health care plan for advanced neuro-surgical care.

Levin: and who issued this? HHS?

Caller: Yes. And basically, they don’t call them patients, they call them ‘units’ and instead of… they call it ‘ethics panels’ or ‘ethics committees’ which get together and meet, and decide where the money would go for hospitals, and basically, for patients over 70 years, that advanced neuro-surgical care was not generally indicated.

Levin: So its generally going to be denied?

Caller: Yes, absolutely.

Levin: Ok, let me ask you this… is this public…? GO ahead…

Caller: If someone comes in at 70 years of age with a bleed in their brain, I can promise you I’m not going to get a bunch of administrators together on an ethics panel at two in the morning to decide that I’m ok to do surgery.

Levin: Let me ask you this… Is this published somewhere for the general public? In other words, where a pedestrian like me can get ahold of it?

Caller: Not yet, not yet.

Levin: So this was discussed just with your community, of neurosurgeons?

Caller: Yes, exactly. The AANS and CNS, the American Association of NeuroSurgeons and the Congress of NeuroSurgeons, because everybody knows cuts are coming in medicine, in reimbursement, and we’re the most expensive in all the fields of medicine, and we’re the smallest field.
But at two or three or four in the morning, we’re the ones that are in the operating room, and we will have to wait for an ethics panel to convene, and they’re not made up of physicians, they’re made of administrators, to decide whether a patient should receive our care.

Levin: So Sarah Palin was right? We ARE going to have these death panels, aren’t we?

Caller: Oh, Absolutely! I’m German by heritage, and I’ve read The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, and basically, they dont call them patients, they call them units, and if you’re a unit above a certain age, you get comfort care, instead of advanced neurosurgical intervention.

Levin: Now this… You went to a seminar in Washington D.C?

Caller: Yes, A few of my former partners, two of them have gone to work for… One runs the VA system, and one is head of the Congress of NeuroSurgeons out of DC.

Levin: And this information is based, you’re certain, on representations and information provided by HHS and other government officials?

Caller: Yep.

Levin: And when will the rest of us become aware of it? After the election?

Caller: Ah, Probably. There are so many things that the government keeps under control, that are used in surgery called HUD devices, or Humanitarian Use Devices, that we’re allowed to use now, because they haven’t undergone full FDA approval, and they’re just used in surgery, because people know its the right thing to do.

But the government can step in at any time, like they did two months ago with a device, and said, this device hasn’t met what we want, and there’s no exact criteria, and then they can take it away from us.

Levin: And the people who are telling you what to do, they don’t even know how to make a pencil, do they?

Caller: Exactly, that’s what I’m saying. And we always joke around, “it’s not brain surgery”, but you know, I did nine years after medical school, I’ve been in training ten years, and now I have people who don’t know a THING about what I’m doing, and telling me when I can and cannot operate.

Levin: All right, please keep in contact, will you? I have to go, but this has been a very very cruical call!

Update: This caller confirms that what Obama said to Jane Sturm was exactly what was planned for in Obamacare.

All patients to be barcoded by 2013

All patients to be barcoded by 2013

The barcodes, which will be read by handheld scanners, are to be issued to patients from October next year under the orders of the Information Standards Board (ISB) for Health and Social Care.

By next April trusts have must plans on how they will implement the change-over.

The ISB is imposing the rule to cut down on the number of avoidable errors like patients being given the wrong medication.

Studies show they can stop such administrative errors by 42 per cent, according to Franck Riout of Zebra Technologies, which makes barcoding systems for NHS trusts.

Peter Walsh, chief executive of the campaign group Action Against Medical Accidents, said: "It's a good move. Patient misidentification is a recurring problem and there is a need for more consistency with wristbands across the NHS.

"Having the same procedures in every NHS hospital will prevent a number of avoidable incidents from causing harm and even worse."

The Patients Association also welcomed them - although the pressure group was a little concerned patients could end up feeling like products rather than people.

Katherine Murphy, its chief executive, said: "Looking for new and innovative ways to improve patient safety should be a top priority for all healthcare providers.

"The introduction of these barcoded wristbands could improve patient safety by making sure that mistakes do not happen.

"However, care must be taken to ensure they do not become a barrier to communication with patients.

"We do not want to end up in a situation where patients are scanned like an item in a supermarket.

"Healthcare professionals using these barcoded wristbands should make sure that they make every effort to talk to the patient and treat them with the respect that all people deserve.”

The project, originally proposed by the Department of Health and the National Patient Safety Authority in 2007, has been put back several times. The original deadline set by the ISB was July 2011
