September 20, 2013 - Nancy Pelosi Very Angry After ObamaCare Defunded in House… Too Bad She Wasn’t This Angry About Fairness, the Constitution and the Role of Congress When She and Harry Reid Forced ObamaCare on America!

And Here’s Nancy just yesterday

*The House of Representatives finally listened to the people and passed their stopgap funding bill (today) Friday to keep government open while terminating the new healthcare law, setting up a final showdown next week with Senate Democrats and President Obama who have firmly rejected that.

The 230-189 vote, which split almost exclusively along party lines, is the precursor to the big action next week, when the Senate is expected to strip out the health care provisions and send the bill back to the House — where Republicans will have to decide whether they can accept it at that point.

All sides are racing a Sept. 30 deadline, which is when current government funding runs out. The new measure would fund the government through Dec. 15, essentially at last year’s levels, and would leave the budget sequesters in place.

Rep. Michele Bachmann:

Washington, D.C. -- Congresswoman Michele Bachmann released the following statement after voting for a continuing resolution to defund ObamaCare and keep the government open.

“Today the House of Representatives listened to the will of the American people and voted to keep the government open while defunding ObamaCare. The President’s health care law is hurting economic growth, causing cutbacks in jobs and hours, and jacking up insurance premiums. We must save the American people from these disastrous consequences of ObamaCare while still keeping the government open. Even President Obama’s Big Labor allies are trying to exempt themselves from ObamaCare, declaring it will hurt the middle class and erase the 40-hour work week. ObamaCare is completely unworkable and deeply unpopular, and I will continue fighting until this train wreck is defunded once and for all so we can start over with free market, patient-centered health care reforms."

Please educate yourself and others and don't be fooled by the mainstream media spin that is coming. Former Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, who refused to work with the Republicans during the ObamaCare creation cycle, has already been spinning all afternoon!, actually for two days now!! The House has passed a budget bill 'with funding for everything' that our government needs to function, except ObamaCare, a program that will ultimately bankrupt us and destroy our quality of healthcare. The Administration will do everything to point the finger and push blame for shutting down our government on the Republicans (GOP). Don't be fooled, the only way the government gets shut down is if President Obama and his puppet Harry Reid cause it. The House "and the so-called bad negative Republicans" have passed a full budget bill while creating a way to open discussion on compromise and to make improvements on ObamaCare", not shutdown the government. It will be President Obama and the Democrats who chose to shut down the government, if that happens.

The goal is and always has been to force businesses to dump their employees into the ObamaCare Exchanges; ultimately creating a single payer system… Socialized Medicine! But not for the elite… Congress, Judges, the Executive Branch Employees, federal employees as a whole, friends of the elite and the Progressive system and the rich will have great healthcare, as good or better than they have or had before, but the average American They will be forced into socialized medicine run by government officials where they, and not the doctors  and health professionals, make decisions on treatments and treatment qualification… while 30-Million of the poor will still not have healthcare. But you can bet that illegal aliens and their kids will.

The unions finally figured that out and began speaking up… But last week their leaders left the White House smiling after a private meeting; any guesses as to why?

ObamaCare will guarantee that there will be two classes… and ObamaCare has been written so that the government will be involved in every aspect of American life!  This opportunity, that the House Republicans fought for, might be the last chance for Americans to stand-up and fight against this.

Just this week, both Home Depot and the Cleveland Clinic, that Obama has used as an example for his side, have announced that they will be dumping employees, either into the exchanges or laying people off, to prepare for the implementation of ObamaCare.  So you be the judge~

And the Republicans… they do want to negotiate!!!!

Don't be played!!

52%+ of Americans polled want ObamaCare Defunded completely. 72% are not happy with ObamaCare (and the number is growing) and they want changes if the program remains law. 30-Million Americans will still be without healthcare after this expensive disaster goes into affect. And members of the Federal Government and their friends will not have ObamaCare as their healthcare system; they will retain their Cadillac plans.

If you do not want ObamaCare and you want the Democrats in the Senate to work with the House, contact your Senator (and President Obama)… Senate List Below:

Diabetes Drug May Reverse Alzheimer's

NewsmaxHealth: A commonly prescribed diabetes drug may have the potential to reverse some of the damage caused by Alzheimer's disease in the later stages of the condition.

In a new study funded by the Alzheimer's Society and published in the journal Neuropharmacology, Lancaster University researchers found the drug liraglutide may reverse memory loss and the build-up of plaques on the brain linked to the disease. Mice with late-stage Alzheimer's given the drug performed significantly better on an object recognition test and their brains showed a 30 percent reduction in the build-up of toxic plaques.

Liraglutide — one of new class of drugs known as GLP-1 analogues — is used to stimulate insulin production in diabetes, but research shows it can also pass through the blood brain barrier and have a protective effect on brain cells.

The findings come as the Alzheimer's Society charity prepares to conduct clinical trials of the drug's effectiveness, as part of a program that aims to repurpose existing drugs as dementia treatments within the next five to 10 years.

"Developing new drugs from scratch can take 20 years and hundreds of millions of pounds," said Doug Brown, M.D., research and development director at the Alzheimer's Society. "We owe it to [dementia patients] to do everything we can to accelerate the process. Our focus on repurposing existing drugs as dementia treatments is an incredibly exciting way of bringing new treatments closer.

"This exciting study suggests that one of these drugs can reverse the biological causes of Alzheimer's even in the late stages and demonstrates we're on the right track. We're now funding a major new trial to bring it closer to a position where it can be improving the lives of people with dementia."

Alzheimer's disease, the most common form of dementia, has few effective treatments and no cure. If successful in clinical trials liraglutide would be the first new dementia treatment in a decade.

Obamacare: Another union boss speaks out against the healthcare law

American Watchtower: The unions all jumped on board to support Obamacare after their bosses carved out an exemption from the law for their members. This exemption secured the support of the Democrats’ largest special interest group, but recently they have begun to realize they were lied to and will be subjected to the healthcare reform law. Needless to say, they are not happy that they will also be subjected to the law they helped to pass.

First we learned the AFL-CIO was losing 40,000 members because of the Affordable Care Act, which led AFL-CIO boss Richard Trumka to demand changes to the law. And now another union leader is speaking out against the unintended consequences of Obamacare.

Here is what LIUNA President Terry O’Sullivan had to say today:

Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) President Terry O’Sullivan said, “if the Affordable Care Act is not fixed, and it destroys the health and welfare funds that we have all fought for and stand for, then I believe it needs to be repealed. We don’t want it repealed. We want it fixed, fixed, fixed.”

O’Sullivan added: “We can’t have the unintended consequences for the proud men and women that we represent to be collateral damage in the healthcare fight in this country.”

What people like Trumka and O’Sullivan are either ignoring, don’t realize, or do not care to admit is this: None of this was unintended, it was the plan of the Obama regime and the Democrats all along. They want people to lose their healthcare insurance so that support will grow for a single-payer system for that was the plan all along.

These union leaders did not give a damn about these unintended consequences because they believed they would be exempted from the law, but now that they are not they are feigning outrage at what is about to befall the American people.

Much like the Federal employees, once they gain their exemption from the law they will quietly fade into the sunset on this issue because they do not care about the Average American, they only care about the people (their members) who pay their salaries. To quote ‘Blazing Saddles,’ they must protect their phony, baloney jobs.

These people are now upset because they have learned they will be subjected to the very same disastrous legislation from which they thought they were exempt, and I for one find it hard to feel sorry for them now that they have learned they are no better, or different, than any other American taxpayer.

AFL-CIO Nevada Passes Resolution to Openly Criticize Obama Administration Over Obamacare

TownHall: A month ago leaders from three major labor unions, Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa, UFCW President Joseph Hansen and UNITE-HERE President D. Taylor, wrote a scathing letter to the Obama administration about how Obamacare will destroy the 40 hour work week for hardworking Americans. The letter called for the administration to "fix" what was broken and had a strong tone of regret when it came to supporting President Obama and the re-election of pro-Obamacare Democrats.

Time is running out: Congress wrote this law; we voted for you. We have a problem; you need to fix it. The unintended consequences of the ACA are severe. Perverse incentives are already creating nightmare scenarios.
Now, the AFL-CIO in Nevada has passed a resolution to openly criticize the Obama administration over Obamacare, again stressing the situation needs to be fixed by the very people who created it. The resolution is a result of union concerns being ignored.
Signaling a growing rift between some unions and the White House over the Affordable Care Act, the Nevada State AFL-CIO passed a stinging resolution Wednesday that criticized the administration for its handling of their concerns with the health care reform law. The resolution claims the law could end up "destroying" the unions' multi-employer health plans if the administration doesn't come up with a regulatory fix.
"[O]ur union members and their families originally offered strong political and moral support for the promise of the Affordable Care Act because it would expand health care coverage for more Americans," the resolution read. But when it came to dealing with the unions' concerns, "the Administration has postured on proposals to address the problem, but no proposal to date will actually solve the problem. Our health plans only get worse."

Other unions, like UNITE HERE, have reportedly been in talks with the White House that haven't been going so well.

In an interview, UNITE HERE President D. Taylor said the union has been in talks with the White House and the Treasury Department over how Taft-Hartley plans should be interpreted under the law. According to Taylor, if workers under Taft-Hartley plans aren't eligible for subsidies, employers will see little reason to remain a part of such plans down the road, potentially forcing workers to purchase their own health care on the state-run exchanges, which are unlikely to offer so much coverage at such low rates.
"We've been working for over two years with essentially all aspects of the government, including Treasury, which wants to interpret [Taft-Hartley] as an employer plan, and it's not," Taylor said. "The Affordable Care Act has clearly been devised so that it would make our nonprofit Taft-Hartley plans completely uncompetitive."
"We want to hold the president to his word that you can keep the plan you like," Taylor added.

Meanwhile on the economic front, we're seeing more and more companies cut hours and the overwhelming majority (more than 70 percent) of new jobs being created are part time.

Obamacare's Worst Feature? It's Wedded To 50-Year-Old Assumptions About Health And Insurance

Forbes: It’s ironic that at the very moment that Obamacare is poised to spend nearly $2 trillion to expand traditional insurance coverage to about 30 million uninsured, new synergies between genomics companies and providers, advanced diagnostics for remotely monitoring patient treatment and detecting serious illness at earlier stages, and a wave of mobile health apps are unraveling old assumptions about how care should be delivered and financed.

Top-down controls on health-care spending and bureaucratic panels embedded in Obamacare will inevitably clash with the emerging bottom-up, patient- and consumer-focused market for personalized health solutions at affordable prices. If anything, science and smartphones will lead us to devolve more responsibility and discretion to individual patients and physicians for producing better health outcomes—making government guidelines (however well-meaning) for how care is delivered and who must deliver it outdated before the ink is even dry.

Everyone wants better health. But the impact of health insurance and health care in maintaining health is not clear, at least not in our current hospital and labor-intensive health-care system – where interventions occur only after someone becomes sick. (Indeed, an overview of the literature shows no evidence that health insurance benefits the non-elderly.) Prevention is a distant second order priority, and certainly not well reimbursed.

While recognizing that our current system is deeply dysfunctional, Obamacare’s architects doubled-down on previous government interventions: adjusting payment rates (especially for Medicare providers), adding new insurance subsidies and regulations, and tweaking the delivery system (through Accountable Care Organizations) with new, bureaucratized pay for performance formulas. The scale may be more ambitious but, in one or another variation, we’ve tried many of these approaches before and the results of current experiments are are not terribly encouraging. As one provider put it, there’s “an awful lot of sticks and not a lot of carrots” in the current approaches.

It not surprising that Washington wants more control and standardization in health care pricing and delivery. But while industrial policy – regulated delivery systems at regulated prices – has fallen out of favor in most other sectors of the U.S. economy (like trucking, airlines, and telecommunications), in health care it remains stubbornly resilient.

Why? Washington’s view of health care remains deeply entrenched in mid-century assumptions about health and illness. Health care via industrial policy makes sense if illness is an Act of God to which all are equally vulnerable and a known quantity of health care can be delivered to everyone at a fixed price. If these assumptions are true, the largest payer – the government – can set the rules of the road, from which all (or almost all) benefit.

That was a reasonable picture of medicine well into the 20th century, as the table below shows, when infectious diseases dominated U.S. deaths. But by 1950, heart disease and cancer had displaced infections as the nation’s most potent killers. (“Diseases of early infancy” was still the fourth-leading cause of death in 1950. By 2010, they had dropped off the table entirely.)

Changes in Causes of Death (number of deaths per 100,000)

Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2168836/Cause-death-American-100-years.html

Today, more than 75% of all U.S. health-care costs are due to chronic conditions (like heart disease) with a strong behavioral component – i.e., smoking, diet, exercise, etc. A sedentary life revolving around high calorie food may be many things, but it’s not an Act of God.

The picture gets even more complex when you break down life expectancy by geographic and racial factors – as Harvard researchers did in 2006. They found not one America, but eight, divided by lines that don’t map neatly to income or race. Asians in the U.S., it turns out, live longer than any other cohort, and have for the last few decades. The second longest-lived group were Midwestern whites with lower than average income. Overall, Harvard researchers noted that the “gap between the highest and lowest life expectancies for race-county combinations in the United States is over 35 years.”

The mix of genetics, income, education, and culture implied by the “Eight Americas” is dizzying. How to raise life expectancy for the group with the poorest life expectancy (urban black males) is, indeed, a worthy topic of public policy discussion—but is it one that should be dominated by health insurance or health care? And what ethnic-cultural-genetic life expectancy mélange should we adopt for our national standard?

Optimistically, Obamacare tasks doctors, especially primary-care physicians, with creating “medical homes” for patients, hopefully addressing the variation in health outcomes and reducing costs associated with managing serious chronic illnesses.

But is that a realistic assumption: Asking physicians to do more, with more patients in their already overcrowded offices? Mixing together healthy patients (who will demand more preventive care because it’s free) with chronically ill patients who need complex behavioral interventions delivered by a team of physicians and related caregivers? Is that a recipe for efficiency or confusion and overspending?

Add to this the fact that many “pay for performance” and best practices promoted under the ACA will inevitably focus on rewarding and grading providers on medical-process metrics— dispensing generic drugs to patients after a heart attack, for instance.

On the whole, this isn’t a bad thing where the drugs work well—but it will likely discourage creative thinking and development of non-medical, non-traditional provider strategies for improving health, because they don’t fit neatly into current reimbursement models. And a generic-first strategy will do little for the disease areas where existing treatments only work well for a fraction of the population – and thus much more medical innovation is needed.

Source: Brian B. Spear, Margo Heath-Chiozzi, and Jeffery Huff, “Clinical Applications of Pharmacogenetics, Trends in Molecular Medicine (May 2001)

Obamacare has no shortage of noble aspirations, but it could’ve used a much stronger dose of humility. Government programs work well (for the most part) when standardization and scale are the most salient values. Build enough Sherman tanks to beat the Nazis. Dig enough sewers to beat cholera. Mandate childhood vaccinations before any child sets foot in a school.

They are much less likely to be successful when individual preferences, culture, geography and genetics make it difficult to prescribe one correct intervention to prevent expensive complications much later. Even the FDA recognized this in its latest user-fee re-authorization—moving away from blanket determinations of “safety” and “efficacy” standards for drug approval and towards adopting a flexible “risk and benefit” analysis that will necessarily vary by disease state, intended population, and a patient’s personal tolerance for risk.

Even our most basic measurements of health are becoming more nuanced. Take, for instance, a recent article in the L.A. Times pointing out that Body Mass Index scores—largely used to measure U.S. obesity rates and predict future health risk—may, for some people, lead to the wrong recommendations. Over large populations, BMI may be a good predictor of health outcomes. But “as a measure of personal health, a wealth of recent research has underscored that the BMI can be a pretty poor predictor.”

The Times notes that recent studies suggest that for some people higher BMIs may have some health benefits; and that when some lean people develop diseases, like diabetes or cardiovascular disease, they’re more likely to die than if they had higher BMI scores. Basically, “weight status and metabolic health are imperfectly correlated,” with about 10.5% of obese adults “metabolically healthy” and 8% of normal weight adults “metabolically unhealthy.”

In short, our understanding of health and disease is becoming ever more complicated and personalized, raising enormous challenges for regulators who want to set bright lines for what insurers must cover or what services doctors should and shouldn’t provide.

Government doesn’t do nuance well. The Soviet Union was good at building guns and rockets, but terrible at supplying consumer goods, like toilet paper. Markets, by contrast, are very good at customized solutions. Provided that there is a large enough market, for-profit companies will help doctors and consumers develop personalized health programs including exercise, diet, and drug regimens tailored to our mix of genes and foibles.

In fact, they’re already doing this. If you look around, the people who will be developing the future of customized health solutions are likely app developers and consumer-savvy companies like FitBit and Nike who are already invested in the quantified-self movement. And as wearable, or swallowable, diagnostics get smarter, cheaper, and more powerful, health care will continue to accelerate away from hospitals and doctor’s offices and into your living room (via the “tricorder” envisioned in Qualcomm’s X-Prize).

Health apps for 99 cents, and concierge doctors at $100 a month, can focus on prevention, wellness, and disease detection, and slashing health-care costs to a fraction of the cost of the current system. Retail clinics in Wal-Mart or Walgreens will gladly monitor our health while we buy toilet paper or toothpaste, keeping us out of expensive hospitals and shifting insurance towards catastrophic coverage for the few risks that remain truly unpredictable and threaten to bankrupt us when they strike.

This is where Obamacare goes most wrong – throwing hundreds of billions of dollars in new subsidies at the insurance market while also pushing insurance into categories called “bronze, silver, gold, and platinum” – with the powerful implication that the more we spend on premiums for broad and expansive insurance, the better the health care we’ll have.

Critics may say that the high-tech medical future I sketch is all well and good, but doesn’t detract from our obligation to offer health insurance coverage to the poor and sick who can’t afford even basic care today. And I agree.

But this gets to the heart of how we structure health insurance markets: we should offer insurance coverage that encourages both innovation in health care delivery and protection against ruinously expensive events. Ironically, our current system offers much more tax-subsidized coverage to middle and upper income Americans than the very poor.

For the vast majority of people, the vast majority of time (who only have small or routine health expenses) high monthly premiums just flush money down the drain. (The same could be said for the open-ended tax deduction for employer-provided health insurance, which drives up health care costs and puts downward pressure on wages and other employee compensation.)

Spending less on subsidies for wealthy and middle class Americans, would free up money for better coverage for the very poor. And some states, like Indiana, have already merged coverage for the poor with health savings accounts that promote responsibility and better health – the same framework we want everyone to have. (Thankfully, this experiment will survive Obamacare, at least for another year.)

As consumer oriented health care diagnostics proliferate and become even more inexpensive, savvy patients and consumers will gladly pay the modest penalties to stay out of Obamacare’s mandated insurance schemes, because they’ll save thousands of dollars along the way. And the growing acceptance of high deductible plans will encourage consumers to stop thinking of insurance as the only way to pay for health care, and stop thinking of health as something that just comes from a doctor’s office.

Two trends will eventually converge to kill health care as industrial policy: the first is that we simply can’t pay for it, at the state or federal level, without crippling the rest of the economy. The second is that advances in science and technology will make health care solutions increasingly personalized, throttling one-sized fits all health care schemes.

The demise of health care via industrial policy should be welcomed by the Left—because less spending on health care will mean more money available for other social priorities like education, infrastructure, and basic medical research on diseases where we don’t have any good prevention or treatment tools (like Alzheimer’s). In the long run, improving job, housing, and education prospects in America’s inner cities – making them better places to live and work and raise children – may do more to improve minority health outcomes than spending more money, for instance, on Medicaid coverage.

This doesn’t mean that government won’t still have a role to play. Enough subsidies will still flow to make sure health savings accounts and high-deductible plans are accessible to those who need help buying even basic coverage. Government should also aggressively move to rollback state and federal regulations that protect incumbent providers and hospital monopolies from lower cost innovators. (The University of Chicago economist John Cochrane has a great paper on regulatory roadblocks to health care competition and innovation here.)

And Obamacare doesn’t get everything wrong. It allows for HSAs, and even allows physicians who offer direct primary care services, like Qliance, to offer insurance on state-health insurance exchanges, with catastrophic policies wrapped around as a backstop. That’s the right model, even if Obamacare includes them only as an afterthought (and blunts additional incentives for insurance innovation through burdensome regulations like the Medical Loss Ratio.) There’s also plenty of room to attack anti-competitive federal and state health care regulations (like provider licensing) without dismantling Obamacare first.

Obamacare’s worst feature is that it locks in mid-century ideas of what medicine and health insurance should be. Ironically, America moved on a long time ago and continues to move forward, even if we still pay for things the same way we did in 1965.

Eventually, our laws (including Obamacare) will have to catch up with our new medical reality—more diverse, more complex, and yes, more consumer-focused than ever before.

INVESTORS NOTE: Some of the biggest insurers offering HSAs, who stand to benefit from consumer-driven health care include United Health (NYSE:UNH); Aetna (NYSE:AET); and Wellpoint (NYSE:WLP). Hardware manufacturers like Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), and more recently Samsung (KSE:005930.KS), may see a strong upside from the wearable diagnostics market. Meanwhile, Nike (NASDAQ:NKE) and FitBit (which is privately owned but recently received a $43M investment) already have a strong stake in this sphere.

You be the judge…

Dr. Robert H. Schuller Has Esophageal Cancer

ap_Crystal_Cathedral_Robert_Schuller_Arvella_jt_120311_mnBetter Dayssheila-schuller-coleman

By Marion Algier – AskMarion

Dr. Sheila Schuller Coleman, eldest child and daughter of Dr. Robert H. and Arvella Schuller, announced that her father had esophageal cancer during her sermon on 8/25/13 at the Shepherd’s Grove church made up of what is left of Dr. Schuller’s Crystal Cathedral Congregation. You can listen to the info at HopeCenter.org - http://hopecenteroc.org/sunday20130825.htm starting around 1:18:30

Sheila said her father has esophageal cancer. It is about 3 inches long and has spread to some lymph nodes. He will go through chemo and radiation and the prognosis is between 3-months and up to 2-years, obviously the lesser time without treatment.  He will be (has been) undergoing treatment.  It was reported that the elder Schuller decided to pursue radiation and chemo after praying with his wife, Arvella, and other family members.

Schuller daughter, Carol Schuller Milner, told the associated press that the oncologists say her father’s tumor is either at or near stage 4, but it has yet to reach his vital organs and he has been strong enough for treatment.

Milner said her father "doesn't have a lot of energy" but has been "very reflective, very peaceful and truly beautiful."

"He's closer to Heaven than he is to this tangible world," Milner said.

Let us all keep RHS is our prayers.

Robert Marvin, a commenter on the Pens-Open Blog said:

I am a 17-year survivor of this same cancer. However, I am now 70 and was only 53 when diagnosed. The chemo and radiation put me the hospital for 45 days with a very bad pneumonia from which my team of doctors thought I would not recover. I fooled them along with a lot of prayers and positive thoughts. I subsequently had surgery to remove my esophagus in 1998 when the cancer started to reappear. This is a very deadly cancer. Mostly because it is not discovered in its early stages. From my experience, it sounds like a stage two or three diagnosis. I know many survivors of this disease at this stage and at this age. That being said, however, it must be noted that response to treatment is a very individual thing.

But keep up the prayers for Dr. Schuller, Sr.  There is always hope and prayer is powerful.  Just yesterday we heard that actress Valerie Harper is close to remission from brain cancer. Valerie was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer earlier this year and given only a short time to live. But she fought back and is winning the battle, her cancer is close to remission; so much so that it was announced that she will be participating in season 17 of Dancing with the Stars.

We have several friends who have beaten the odds through prayer, positive thinking, combining alternative with traditional treatments and shear determination.  Miracles happen every day!!

Dr. Schuller says he has had a wonderful life.  He did what God called him to do and he has no regrets.  It really has been quite the life:

Dr. Schuller began preaching in 1955 from the top of a drive-in movie theater concession stand in Orange County with wife Arvella playing the organ and by 1970 they had launched their TV ministry with the "Hour of Power." The landmark cathedral was built in 1980 and with it were born the long-running Glory of Christmas and Easter pageants and their one season Glory of Creation counterpart.

At its peak, the Hour of Power broadcast attracted a viewership of 20 million around the world.  “But in recent years, Schuller's ministry was hamstrung by a disastrous leadership transition and then a decline in viewership and donations. The once-popular televangelist resigned from the church's board in 2012; about two years after that the ministry filed for bankruptcy”, said Carol Milner.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange bought the cathedral in bankruptcy proceedings and renamed the building Christ Cathedral and their southern campus which included a school, retreat center and small church was purchased by Hobby Lobby who leases it to Saddleback, another OC mega-church.

Valerie Harper in Remission… Valerie, Snooki, Leah Remini and 9 more join 'Dancing With the Stars' Cast for Season 17

If there was ever an argument for positive thinking and determination as a cure, or at least a slowdown, for Cancer… Valerie Harper is it!!

Valerie Harper appears to be beating cancer and the actress has also made a decision to appear on Dancing with the Stars for 2013.

Valerie was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer earlier this year and given only a short time to live.  But she fought back and is winning the battle, her cancer is close to remission.

So - why risk that and compete?

In an interview with AARP The Magazine over two days in July, Harper, 74, said, "As long as you’re alive, you can do something."

Many fans are anxious to see Valerie dance and expect a lot of tears and cheers for Harper as she competes on ABC's season 17 of DWTS.

The entire cast was revealed Wednesday on ABC's "Good Morning America."

Major change coming to Obamacare: Anyone who voted for or supported BO will receive an exemption

Conscience of a Conservative:  Obamacare, officially known as the Affordable Care Act, was written with explicit language that it was to include everyone. No exceptions. Even members of Congress and their staff were mandated to follow the same rules as every other American citizen. This was apparently done to appease the Republicans and get their support for the bill. Then just before the 2012 elections several unions who had endorsed and campaigned for Barack Hussein Obama began to receive exemptions from the mandatory requirements. Then it was disclosed that members of Congress were concerned that their highly paid staff members would be persuaded to leave their cushy jobs if they had to pay for their own health insurance, like everyone else. So our Great Leader issued a decree that made them exempt and the government would continue to provide their insurance. Now we read that 40,000 union members have quit the AFL-CIO because they don’t like the idea of having to pay for their health insurance.

40,000 Longshoreman Quit AFL-CIO Blaming ObamaCare

In what is being reported as a surprise move, the 40,000 members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) announced that they have formally ended their association with the AFL-CIO, one of the nation’s largest private sector unions. The Longshoremen citied Obamacare and immigration reform as two important causes of their disaffiliation.

In an August 29 letter to AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, ILWU President Robert McEllrath cited quite a list of grievances as reasons for the disillusion of their affiliation, but prominent among them was the AFL-CIO’s support of ObamaCare.

“We feel the Federation has done a great disservice to the labor movement and all working people by going along to get along,” McEllrath wrote in the letter to Trumka.

The ILWU President made it clear they are for a single-payer, nationalized healthcare policy and are upset with the AFL-CIO for going along with Obama on the confiscatory tax on their “Cadillac” healthcare plan.

What isn’t a surprise is that almost immediately after this announcement, some union leaders asked Obama to also exclude them from the mandatory coverage requirement. And it looks like they will get it. So what it all comes to is that the only people who will be forced to buy health insurance will be people who didn’t support or vote for Obama. In other words, Obamacare is really just a tax on Republicans.

In order to get Obamacare passed through Congress, then Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi famously remarked, “You have to pass the bill before you can see what’s in it.” But even when the bill was being written it had parts added for the expressed purpose of persuading certain groups from opposing it. Like the powerful NRA gun lobby. Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid inserted a clause in ACA that reversed a previous order to have family Physicians inquire if their patients had a gun in their house.

Following the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, Obama issued his 23 Executive Orders to formulate Gun Control and one of those orders retracted the clause in Obamacare that Harry Reid inserted and once again, family doctors will be asking their patients if they own a gun. And since all medical records will be electronically stored and accessed by the government, anyone who admits they have a gun will be easily identified.

The true nature of Barack Hussein Obama’s government is becoming clearer and clearer every day. He admits he doesn’t need Congress to pass his laws, he can issue them by Executive Order. The Constitution is just an inconvenient piece of paper to him. He ignores and changes written laws to please himself and his friends and his supporters by issuing his Royal Decrees and Exemptions. It would not be surprising to learn he has a plan to remain in office after the end of his present term. And yes, there is a word for that, its called Dictator.

Beware: A Disgusting Scam Women Are Using On Their Boyfriends

http://ricksmith.me/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/greedy-woman-on-floor.jpg
Joshua Pundit: There's a new, mega-hot item selling on Craigslist these days - positive pregnancy tests. The going rate is between $20 and $40 each, The Daily Dot reports.

One New Jersey mom writes: 'Wanna get your boyfriend to finally pop the question? Play a trick on mom, dad or one of your friends?
The sellers are numerous, and most of them seem to be aware that their positive tests are being used for immoral and duplicitous purposes.

'I'm pregnant and will sell you my positive pregnancy test for $20,' reads one ad from a woman on Manhattan's Lower East Side writes. 'I don't care what you need them for.'

Aside from tricking a man into marriage or into staying in one he's in the process of getting out of, the tests are being used in another popular scam. If a woman's been sleeping with a man - or men - and needs some quick, easy cash, she merely buys a used, positive test, confronts her bedmate(s) with the 'evidence' of her pregnancy and says she wants an abortion, but she needs $500 to pay for it. A lot of men will be glad not to have to go through the nightmare that family court and child support laws have become in America and will happily fork over the cash.

There's an easy way to not be victimized by this deception. If your girlfriend confronts you with one of these home pregnancy tests, be sweet and agreeable. And then say 'you know, honey, I actually was reading the other day about how error-prone these home pregnancy tests are. This is a big deal, so let's go to a doctor and get it confirmed so we know for sure.' Offer to pay for it.

If you meet with resistance to the idea, remain calm and pleasant but insist on seeing a doctor 'to be sure'. If she won't go, you pretty much know what's going on.

A Time For Choosing: Take action, call your members of Congress and demand they vote to defund ObamaCare immediately. Remind them it’s easy to fully fund the government, while NOT spending a dime on this disastrous “heath care” bill.

Texas Attorney General [and gubernatorial candidate] Greg Abbott has called ObamaCare an “unconstitutional tax,” and “not right for Texas.”

Democrat Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi infamously said about ObamaCare that, “we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.” Congresswoman Pelosi was right, and now Texas and the rest of America are beginning to see the consequences – from rising healthcare costs to businesses being forced to lay off employees.

Greg Abbott knew this was a bad law from the beginning. So on the day ObamaCare was signed into law, he filed a lawsuit challenging its constitutionality. The Supreme Court agreed with General Abbott that Congress illegally tried to seize the states’ Medicaid systems. Although, the Supreme Court upheld other onerous parts of ObamaCare, General Abbott has not given up the fight. He continues to challenge this unworkable law and the unprecedented tax it imposes on Americans.

We must stop this law that Sarah Palin has called “downright evil” and democrat Max Baucus, one of the law’s creators, has called “a train-wreck” from moving forward and further harming the American people.

Governor Sarah Palin: Don’t Fund Obamacare!, Update: Senator Cruz Responds:

Forced enrollment in Obama's "Unaffordable Care Act" is weeks away. This beast must be stopped -- by not funding it. Today, Todd and I joined with many of our fellow citizens to urge those in the U.S. Senate to not fund Obamacare.

We The People must continue to make our voices heard and hold those elected to serve this great nation accountable. Those in the Senate and those seeking to serve ther...e must stand strong against this devastating program before it reveals its true face now recognized by both sides of the aisle as the bureaucratic and economic beast that will deny our families, our businesses, and our sick the ability to access health care.

The time for rhetoric and ceremonial votes in Congress is over. The time to take serious action to stop Obamacare is now. Join us in urging Senators -- Don't Fund Obamacare! Just remember -- if you fund it, you own it!

- Sarah Palin
