The Dirty Secret Behind ObamaCare No One's Talking About

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnyUrXKPOTha9z8KUu_8nUUpkDl_l3HCtlmkugcvZKwe7rPi6_nJAn5FZo3PM48tJ44vK6zV0uwUljojzxwGz2vi4FUNeEYGghmYihQ03D3qoXYaypE4ewiyCFQp6JCEJFecEz5VMZeSCP/s1600/062812_Obamacare-lied.jpg

JoshuaPundit – Cross-Posted at AskMarion: At this point, much is being made about the failure of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, better known as ObamaCare.

President Obama himself tacitly admitted as much by calling in what amounts to an emergency rescue squad from Silicon Valley to try and make sense of the dysfunctional website...paid for by the American taxpayers at a staggering cost of over $500 million. (And some say it cost as much $634 Million and was not even an American company.  That’s right… that outrageous amount of American taxpayer money went to a Canadian company.)The website itself was granted to a company with connections to Obama backer George Soros, CGI Federal in a no bid contract, and the job they did was so amateurish and sloppy that they even opened the government to a lawsuit for violating the licensing agreement of a copyrighted web script used by the site.

The estimated cost to repair the system and get it up and running again may run as high as $2 billion, and it might take months to repair.

Meanwhile, Americans coast to coast are experiencing sticker shock over the huge increases to their existing healthcare policies, and the demographic ObamaCare targeted to pay the freight - largely uninsured healthy young adults - is steering clear as they discover what enrolling in ObamaCare actually entails.

For instance, here’s a typical deal that's being offered:

“One option available only to people under 30 is a so-called catastrophic policy that kicks in after a $6,350 annual deductible. In Monroe County, you can buy that policy on the New York State of Health exchange for as low as $131 a month for single coverage.”
Let's look at the math. They're offering coverage for $1,572.00 per year that only kicks in after you pay $6,350, not a sum the majority of under 30s still paying off student loans have laying around even if they happen to have full time jobs. Any wonder that healthy young adults aren't signing up, and opting to pay the tax instead? And without their participation, ObamaCare is doomed to failure.
There are significant voices on the right end of the spectrum who are saying that the best policy is simply to allow this debacle to happen. The strategy they're touting assumes that when this happens, both President Obama and the Democrats will be blamed for the colossal and expensive failure and it will all end up collapsing and eventually being repealed anyway.

They're missing two important factors.

First, no federal entitlement has ever been repealed. They just morph into something different in the name of 'reform'.

And that brings us to the second factor, the dirty secret behind ObamaCare - it was always designed to fail.

President Obama and his minions always had the goal of Sovietizing the American health care system by making it single payer and having it controlled solely by the Federal government. ObamaCare was never anything more than a poorly constructed Potemkin village designed to fail so miserably that the American people would demand single payer just to get rid on the unwieldy mess ObamaCare would create.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid admitted as much  when he was asked whether Obama Care was merely a step towards single payer answering, “Yes, yes. Absolutely, yes.”

Senator Reid's told PBS in his interview that he and other 'progressives' wanted single payer all along, but even with the Democrats having a veto proof majority in 2009, they didn't have the 60 votes needed to push it through.

“We had a real good run at the public option … don’t think we didn’t have a tremendous number of people who wanted a single-payer system,” Reid said.

But in the end, some Democrats weren't willing to go along - Reid named former Senator Joe Lieberman as a prominent obstacle - so they opted for the next best thing...a cumbersome train wreck in the making which, as an added benefit, provided plenty of pork and contracts for well connected donors as well as 'new revenues' the Democrat euphemism for increased taxes.

Not only that, but it provided funding and employment for President Obama's friends at ACORN as ObamaCare 'navigators', regardless of felony convictions and legal resident status.

That's where things stand now. The next target, especially if President Obama's union allies get the waiver they're screaming for will be an all out assault on employer-sponsored health care, with vast increases on co-pays and employee contributions...except, of course if you're lucky enough to work for someone who has a waiver or is subsidized, like members of congress and their staffers.

Repeal of ObamaCare is the only way to avoid this. 'Reform' just adds another facade to an already corrupt and crumbling structure. And repeal is going to involve electing enough members of Congress in 2014 with the spine to insist on repeal and stick to it, as well as holding their feet to the fire to make sure they don't weasel out in classic DC fashion.

And yes, those really are the only choices available.

Heart - An American Medical Odyssey - Book Review

Hardcover: Heart: An American Medical Odyssey / Kindle

Former Vice President Dick Cheney and his longtime cardiologist, Dr. Jonathan Reiner, share the story of Cheney’s thirty-five-year battle with heart disease—providing insight into the incredible medical breakthroughs that have changed cardiac care over the last four decades.

For almost as long as he served at the highest levels of government and business, Dick Cheney has been one of the most well known cardiac patients in the world. When he suffered his first heart attack in 1978, Cheney received essentially the same treatment as President Eisenhower did after his heart attack in 1955. Since then, coronary care has undergone revolutionary changes. The story of these changes is told through the chronicle of Cheney’s own heart disease and the treatments he received.

In Heart, for the first time ever, Dick Cheney shares the very personal story of his health struggles. Heart traces the history of cardiology over the past forty years through the alternating narratives of Cheney and his longtime cardiologist Dr. Jonathan Reiner. In their voices, readers will learn about Cheney’s personal experiences, get a glimpse into the all-important doctor-patient relationship, and learn about the cutting-edge science that has radically changed the way we think about and treat the disease. By revealing the intimate details behind his five heart attacks and most recently, his heart transplant, Cheney offers hope to the millions struggling with cardiovascular disease around the world.

Video:  Health concerns loomed over Dick Cheney while in office

CBSNews: Dick Cheney called his current health "a miracle" in a frank discussion of the heart disease he suffered over his entire political career and especially when he served as the vice president. In his first interview about his new book, "Heart," he speaks to Dr. Sanjay Gupta, discussing for the first time the revelation that the defibrillator implanted in his chest could be used by terrorists to kill him and was altered to prevent that. Cheney's 60 Minutes interview aired on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT.

Before he had a heart transplant 20 months ago, Cheney was a seriously ill man who had undergone several life-saving procedures, including the implantation of a defibrillator. Cheney had that replaced in 2007 and his doctor, cardiologist Jonathan Reiner, with whom he wrote the book, had the device's wireless function disabled so a terrorist couldn't send his heart a fatal shock. Some years later, Cheney was watching an episode of the SHOWTIME hit "Homeland," in which that terrorist scenario was woven into the plot. "I was aware of the danger...that existed...I found it credible," he responds to Gupta when asked what went through his mind. "I know from the experience we had and the necessity for adjusting my own device, that it was an accurate portrayal of what was possible," says Cheney.

Cheney suffered five heart attacks requiring multiple angioplasties and catheterizations, plus a quadruple bypass operation. Still, he says his health troubles never impacted his performance in his job as the second most powerful man in the world. Nor did the stress on the job contribute to his disease, says the former two-term vice president. "I simply don't buy the notion that it contributed to my heart disease," he tells Gupta. "In fact...getting back to work...was important enough that I, in fact, kept them separate...I always did what I needed to do in order to deal with the health crisis in the moment," says Cheney.

At arguably one of the most stressful times for him, making decisions on 9/11 while President Bush was at an appearance in Florida, he says his health did not even occur to him. "I didn't think about my health. I was thinking about the problem we were dealing with," says Cheney. What he didn't know was that a blood test result seen the morning of 9/11 made Dr. Reiner afraid for the vice president's life. It showed a surge of potassium in his blood, a condition called hyperkalemia that could be fatal. Reiner tells Gupta, as he watched 9/11 television coverage that night, he was thinking, "Oh great, the vice president is going to die tonight from hyperkalemia."

Two years ago, Cheney was gaunt, carried a sallow complexion and needed a cane to walk. Today, he says he's a new man and feels "fantastic." At 72, he says he has no real physical limits. "I fish. I hunt...I don't ski, but that's because of my knees, not my heart. So, it's been a miracle," he tells Gupta.

Cheney had his first heart attack over 35 years ago and has been the recipient of many modern heart treatments that seemed to come along at just the right time. He even had a pump attached directly to his heart while awaiting a transplant. He knows luck played a big role in his life. He says Dr. Reiner once made an analogy between the course of Cheney's health and treatment and a person who gets up late and drives to work, but he sees all the traffic lights ahead are red. "'Cheney,'" he says the doctor told him, "'when you get to them, they all turn green.' And that's... a pretty good description," says Cheney.

Gupta quipped that miracle, fantastic and wonderful were not words normally heard out of Cheney’s mouth… Cheney came back with… “You mean from Darth Vader?”

Obamacare will double my monthly premium (according to Kaiser)

That’s  right… the Progressive website, the Daily Kos, reported that according to Kaiser, people’s healthcare premiums, under the new Affordable Care Act, ObamaCare, are doubling for some.

Daily Kos: My wife and I just got our updates from Kaiser telling us what our 2014 rates will be. Her monthly has been $168 this year, mine $150. We have a high deductible. We are generally healthy people who don't go to the doctor often. I barely ever go. The insurance is in case of a major catastrophe.

Well, now, because of Obamacare, my wife's rate is gong to $302 per month and mine is jumping to $284.

I am canceling insurance for us and I am not paying any fucking penalty. What the hell kind of reform is this?

Oh, ok, if we qualify, we can get some government assistance. Great. So now I have to jump through another hoop to just chisel some of this off. And we don't qualify, anyway, so what's the point?

I never felt too good about how this was passed and what it entailed, but I figured if it saved Americans money, I could go along with it.

I don't know what to think now. This appears, in my experience, to not be a reform for the people.

What am I missing?

I realize I will probably get screamed at for posting this, but I can't imagine I am the only Californian who just received a rate increase from Kaiser based on these new laws.

UPDATE: Updated the title per some requests. I appreciate all the helpful comments. I am   now on baby duty but will go through these later for more information. I can't keep up with all the comments right now.

I really do appreciate the helpful comments. Peace all. Peace out.

ObamaCare… Like a Restaurant Where the Owners, Chefs, Workers and Their Families Refuse to Eat…

By Marion Algier – Ask Marion

Would you really eat in a restaurant, trusting their food or service, where the owners, chefs, workers and their families refuse to eat?  Of course you wouldn’t.  Nobody would, but that is what the Democrats, some GOP establishment career politicians and the Obama administration and their staffs are asking you to do.

They are asking, no mandating, that you to sign up and subject yourself and your family’s health, and in many cases losing better coverage, for healthcare coverage that they refuse to sign up for and be covered by themselves.

The so-called tea party Republicans, who are following their constituents wishes, but have now pretty much backed away from all their demands about the budget and upcoming debt ceiling raise, in what seems like their 20th compromise when the left has refused to negotiate or compromise on anything, were willing to pass and extend the budget and debt ceiling negotiations for several months with a clean bill, except for one provision… The Republicans attached the Vitter amendment (DeSantis bill in the House) which would demand that the House of Representatives, the Senate, the White House and their staffs and federal appointees would have to sign up for and live under the same ObamaCare bill that we all will have to suffer under, without any extra provisions or exemptions.  The Democrats’, RINOs’ and administration’s response:  NO…!

Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) (KEVIN DIETSCH/UPI/Newscom)

Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) (KEVIN DIETSCH/UPI/Newscom)

The Vitter Amendment on Obamacare: Senate Liberals’ Curious Complaint

The Foundry:

Last week (mid-September) Senator David Vitter (R–LA) proposed an amendment that would end exemptions for White House political appointees and stop illegal taxpayer subsidies for Congress and staff enrolled in Obamacare’s new health insurance exchanges. In other words, political appointees, Members of Congress, and their staffs would receive the same coverage and be eligible for subsidies available to every other American enrolled in the exchanges. No special deals.

On September 17, Senator Dick Durbin (D–IL) charged that Vitter’s proposed amendment was “unfair” because it would eliminate the employer payment for Members of Congress and 16,000 congressional staffers.

But this is a curious complaint. In 2010, Senator Durbin and all other Senate Democrats voted—lockstep—for final passage of Obamacare, which included Section 1312, which ended Members’ access to the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program and instead placed them into the Obamacare health insurance exchanges. Without access to employer coverage, there is no employer subsidy—not for Congress and not for any other worker dumped out of job-based coverage into the exchanges. That’s the law.

Durbin also tries to use Vitter’s vote for an amendment (Amendment No. 3564) offered by Senator Chuck Grassley (R–IA) during debate over Obamacare to undermine his current efforts. Yes, Vitter voted for the amendment. The amendment would have put the President, his appointees, Congress, and staff into the exchanges but would have preserved the government contributions for Congress and staff in the new exchanges.

Here’s the catch: Senator Durbin voted against the Grassley amendment, as did Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D–NV), Senator Barbara Boxer (D–CA), and 53 other Senate Democrats. (See The Congressional Record, March 24, 2010, p. S1996.) In other words, these Senators voted to protect the President and his appointees from their own law but also voted to remove the employer contribution to Congress and their staff. Yet these Senators now oppose it.

Senate liberals say they like Obamacare. If that’s the case, it is only reasonable for them to want to make sure they get what they like on the same exact terms and conditions as every other American enrolled in the exchanges, as put forth by Senator Vitter.

So why wouldn’t the Democrats from both Houses of Congress (as well as the Establishment RINO GOP) vote for the Republican’s compromise and embrace ObamaCare on the same terms the American people are getting… the terms they voted for?  And if they aren’t why should the American people?

Why?  Because our politicians know it is a bad plan, bad coverage, certainly worse and more expensive if you compare apples to apples, than they have now, and it opens them up to the same IRS mandates and access into all their records and information.  It also opens them up to having a non-medically trained review board tell them which services they will and will not get… essentially death panels.  But although they don’t want it, it is good enough for the rest of us in their book.  After all what better advertisement for his signature program would there have been than President Obama and Vice President Biden signing themselves and their families up for all to see for the ObamaCare exchanges the day the program opened on October 1st?

Don’t be fooled by the propaganda being fed us through the mainstream media. ObamaCare was never about healthcare, and definitely not about better healthcare, it was always about ideology and control… about the federal government controlling you… all of us!

Just like President Obama and Harry Reid’s refusal to negotiate with the Republicans has nothing to do with what is good for the country or even the budget, or even the truth for that matter, it is about demonizing the Republicans so that the Progressive Democrats win the next election… so they can maintain their control of you!!

Do your homework and then you be the judge… But in my kitchen, the cook eats his own food and no matter how the present shutdown ends... Our politicians still don't want to eat theirs!

Have You Gotten Your Biometric Screening Letter from Your Employer, Yet?

biometric

Freedom By The Way:

Big Brother has arrived...neatly packaged in “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” AKA Obamacare. Hubby received a notice today at work about “FREE BIOMETRIC SCREENINGS” for himself and his dependents that could save us from $17-$34 a month on premiums. (which, of course, doesn’t do much to  offset the 29% increase which went into effect July 1, but I digress).

Right now, the biometric screening is voluntary. Which is a good thing because we have no intention of selling out our privacy for $34 a month. However, employer biometric screening and individual wellness plans will be MANDATORY under Obamacare in the not too distant future.

From a press release from a company called BIOQ, published August 14, 2013:

BioIQ Helps Employers Comply with New ACA Wellness Requirements

Health Improvement Technology Company Helps Companies Engage Employees in a Non-Discriminatory Manner to Measure Individual and Population Health

Santa Barbara, Calif. – August 14, 2013 –

BioIQ announced that its health-improvement technology platform helps employers comply with the final regulations of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). Leveraging the BioIQ platform, organizations throughout the United States can increase wellness program participation, avoid discrimination, and meet stated health and wellness goals…

BioIQ offers a comprehensive set of products and services to help employers achieve and verify compliance with ACA wellness requirements. For example, BioIQ Dimensions offers several health-screening methods for gathering biometric data from employees and dependents to enforce nondiscrimination. BioIQ program participants who are unable to take a blood test or meet stated health standards due to a medical condition are allowed to request an alternative or a waiver. BioIQ Axis connects individuals to specific interventions based on their identified risks and needs. BioIQ Ecosystem funnels participants into an array of complementary health, wellness, and disease-management solutions to improve their health. This patented “closed-loop” wellness platform helps all participants to earn rewards by meeting agreed-upon milestones and outcomes. Specific risk-factors trigger targeted interventions. Secure personal health dashboard enable participants to track their progress and allow administrators to manage participation, outcomes, rewards and incentives, all while protecting personal health information as per HIPAA requirements.

“To comply with the ACA mandates, employers need to engage the entire population, carefully track the results, and provide direct interventions to help participants achieve healthy outcomes and meet personal wellness goals,” said Justin Bellante, CEO of BioIQ.,,,

Outcomes-based programs (also called health-contingent wellness programs) not only require participation; they also require individuals to attain or maintain specific health outcomes as measured by biometric screening or a health risk assessment. Corporate wellness programs must track individual results related to each requirement and allow employees to take additional steps to achieve the stated outcomes to obtain wellness incentives or rewards. These programs must also offer reasonable alternatives for people who have a specific condition that precludes them from achieving the outcome, so that the individual can earn the incentives via other agreed-upon means, as validated by a recent Internal Revenue Service bulletin.  Read the entire press release here: https://www.bioiq.com/press

So now your employer will be involved in tracking your health & lifestyle? That’s right folks!

If your cholesterol is too high…you smoke…you drink too much…you take sleeping pills…you are overweight…your employer must design an individual program for you to improve.

Can we just do the jobs employers hired us to do? Do you have to take a sample of my blood and tell me how to live?

Belize is looking better and better.

Most powerful White House Obamacare official at center of IRS scandal (Jeanne Lambrew)

The Daily Caller: The White House official who exchanged confidential taxpayer information with the IRS is a longtime Obama advisor and progressive activist who is currently the most powerful official on Obamacare implementation within the White House.

Jeanne Lambrew, deputy assistant to the president for health policy, entered Obama-world in 2008 as a health-policy adviser to then-Senator Obama’s presidential campaign. She was subsequently named deputy director and then director of the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) now-defunct Office of Health Reform, where she reported directly to Kathleen Sebelius.

Lambrew’s current “deputy assistant to the president” position, while modest-sounding, gives her extensive and centralized power over the White House’s efforts to implement Obamacare.

“[Lambrew] is also unabashedly liberal – often serving as the architect of her party’s most progressive ideas on healthcare reform,” wrote American Enterprise Institute resident fellow Scott Gottlieb in a March op-ed.

“The few remaining centrists thinkers inside the White House, mostly scattered across the National Economic Council and Treasury, are gone – or largely marginalized when it comes to issues around implementation. The people drafting and reviewing the regulations are mostly centered in the White House and its Domestic Policy Council — and they mostly work for Jeanne Lambrew,” Gottlieb wrote.

“Normally, the Office of Management and Budget and the National Economic Council would be heavily engaged on the issuance of regulations tied to a major law like Obamacare. Not the Obama White House. The economists still play on the fiscal issues related to Medicare and Medicaid. But when it comes to Obamacare implementation, they are not calling the shots. The power is centered on Lambrew,” Gottlieb wrote.

Lambrew exchanged confidential taxpayer information on organizations with IRS official Sarah Hall Ingram and White House health policy advisor Ellen Montz, according to 2012 emails obtained by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and provided to The Daily Caller last week. Ingram attempted to counsel Lambrew and the White House on a lawsuit from religious organizations opposing Obamacare’s contraception mandate.

Lambrew also hosted 155 of Ingram’s 165 White House visits, according to White House visitor logs that were recently taken offline during the government shutdown. The IRS improperly targeted conservative groups for harassment of their tax-exempt applications and abusive audits between 2010 and 2012.

Lambrew previously served as a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, a left-wing Washington think tank headed by former Clinton chief of staff John Podesta.

Podesta credited Lambrew with helping to shape the “foundation” of the progressive health care reform push beginning in 2005, which was eventually realized under Obama despite attempts to “demagogue” the issue by conservatives who believe that “health is a privilege, not a right,” according to Podesta.

Lambrew moderated a June 2008 Center for American Progress panel criticizing Obama opponent John McCain’s health policy.

Among numerous other positions in government and academia, Lambrew worked on health care reform at the Department of Health and Human Services between 1993-94, as First Lady Hillary Clinton led the administration’s disastrous health care reform initiative.

Lambrew has contributed money to the presidential campaigns of John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and Obama, and to the now defunct George Soros-funded PAC America Coming Together.

“Providing and improving health care for every American may be the current test of our country’s strength of conviction, as was enacting civil rights for all in the 1960s and the creation of the New Deal in the 1930s,” wrote Lambrew, Podesta, and Teresa L. Shaw in 2005.

The White House did not return a request for comment.

ObamaCare… And So It Begins: Exchange Leaks Private Information of 2,400 People in Minnesota

Freedom Outpost:  Please view the short video below and see how incompetent the ObamaCare system really is, and this is only the tip of the joke on us, the citizens who pay the taxes!  Between the incompetence and the corruption behind this plan we are doomed if we don’t find a way to get rid of it!!

Last month, an employee of MNsure, Minnesota's Obamacare exchange, accidentally sent an unencrypted email to the wrong person.  The email contained the private information of over two thousand people, and went to a local insurance broker.

GTY_healthcare_websites_jtm_131001_16x9_992The broker, Jim Koester, deleted the information, and later reported it, but the incident was a striking illustration of the insecurity of the Obamacare system.  The data included names, addresses and Social Security numbers, as well as other information.  As Koester told the Minnesota Star Tribune, "What if this had fallen into the wrong hands?  It's scary.  If this is happening now, how can clients of MNsure be confident that their data is safe?"

Though the majority of Americans were ideologically skeptical of Obamacare when it was initially passed, it has been developments in the past few months which have illustrated practical problems with the program's implementation.  Members of Congress and experts have been concerned for weeks about database integrity and design flaws, as well as the selection of employees trusted with the data.

The incident also compounds concerns Obamacare critics have expressed since the beginning about the program's data mining.  As long as it's stored at a state level, doctors are encouraged to ask very private information about individuals.  The data does not only include identifiers such as name, address and SSN, but also income, citizenship status, tax information, family size, citizenship, health plan enrollment, incarceration status and even gun ownership.

Some of this data cannot be stored at the federal level, but it can be stored at the state level and used by the federal government at any time.  The fact that the system, called the Hub, is run by thousands of unvetted, low level federal employees, who can easily access it for their own gain or spread it to others unintentionally, only adds to that concern.  The recent NSA and IRS scandals have shown how willing the government is to abuse its possession of such information, and Obamacare has now revealed how insecure this possession is.

This leak – and the similar ones which will inevitably follow – also comes at a time in which this data can impact people's lives most strongly.  Not only can leaks lead to identity theft, they can lead to the publishing of information which leads to simple conflict which would not otherwise happen.  In 2009, for instance, Wikileaks – which relies almost exclusively on leaks by government employees – published the membership list of the controversial British National Party, which remains online today and has led to firings.

Obamacare's collection and storing of data on private citizens is wrong, but the fact that it is handled with such irresponsibility is unconscionable.  The October 1 MNsure leak was a perfect illustration of this problem, and a situation which will likely be repeated with less benign results.  As Democrats refuse to make any compromise whatsoever on ObamaCare, it's worthwhile to note the severe problems, both ideological and practical, of the system.

Ben Swann warned the public on this risk. See article here.  Unfortunately the possibility of American's personal data being breached in this massive Government program has now become a reality.

And if you think these leaks, glitches and related incompetence is bad… wait until you get to the actual healthcare glitches and problems including the panels of non-medical personnel who will decide if you and your family even get the treatments that you need, even after you pay the higher premiums.

European Parliament Outlaws Circumcision; Israel Calls It "A Moral Stain"

JoshuaPundit: A resolution to outlaw male ritual circumcision, calling it a “violation of the physical integrity of children” was passed overwhelmingly by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

The Jewish rite of Brit Millah was compared in the resolution to the female genital mutilation (FGM) common in a number of Muslim and African countries, although no specific recommendations or resolutions condemning that practice or recommending that member states outlaw FGM was passed.

The resolution Called on member states to "adopt specific legal provisions to ensure that certain operations and practices will not be carried out before a child is old enough to be consulted,” which targets Jews specifically since only Jews ritually circumcise their male children when they are eight days old, symbolic of the Covenant of Abraham.

The State of Israel's Foreign Ministry was quick to respond:

"Circumcision of male children is an ancient religious tradition of two important religions, Judaism and Islam, and it is also common among some Christian circles," the Foreign Ministry staid in a statement.

"Any comparison of this tradition to the reprehensible and barbaric practice of female genital mutilation is either appalling ignorance, at best, or defamation and anti-religious hatred, at worst."

The resolution, the statement continued, is "an intolerable attack both on the respectable and ancient religious tradition that lies at the base of European culture, and on modern medical science and its findings. This resolution casts a moral stain on the Council of Europe, and fosters hate and racist trends in Europe. We call on the Council of Europe to act without delay in order to annul it."

The Israeli Foreign Ministry statement also said that the claims that circumcision harms the health of young boys are false and runs contrary to scientific evidence.

Needless to say, the European Parliament won't annul it.
My friend Carl has the right of it.

"Whenever the gentiles want to attack us, the first things they attack are circumcision, Torah study and ritual slaughter. Not necessarily in that order."

He's got that right.

Chicken nuggets contain bone, organ parts, study finds

chicken-nuggets

Published October 04, 2013 - Reuters/FoxNewsHealth

Stand-up comedians have long joked that some things, like the actual components of chicken nuggets, are better left mysterious.

Recently, Mississippi researchers found out why: two nuggets they examined consisted of 50 percent or less chicken muscle tissue, the breast or thigh meat that comes to mind when a customer thinks of "chicken."

The nuggets came from two national fast food chains in Jackson. The three researchers selected one nugget from each box, preserved, dissected and stained the nuggets, then looked at them under a microscope.

The first nugget was about half muscle, with the rest a mix of fat, blood vessels and nerves. Close inspection revealed cells that line the skin and internal organs of the bird, the authors write in the American Journal of Medicine.

The second nugget was only 40 percent muscle, and the remainder was fat, cartilage and pieces of bone.

"We all know white chicken meat to be one of the best sources of lean protein available and encourage our patients to eat it," lead author Dr. Richard D. deShazo of the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, said.

"What has happened is that some companies have chosen to use an artificial mixture of chicken parts rather than low-fat chicken white meat, batter it up and fry it and still call it chicken," deShazo told Reuters Health.

"It is really a chicken by-product high in calories, salt, sugar and fat that is a very unhealthy choice. Even worse, it tastes great and kids love it and it is marketed to them."

The nuggets he examined would be okay to eat occasionally, but he worries that since they are cheap, convenient and taste good, kids eat them often. His own grandchildren "beg" for chicken nuggets all the time, and he compromises by making them at home by pan-frying chicken breasts with a small amount of oil, deShazo said.

"Chicken nuggets are an excellent source of protein, especially for kids who might be picky eaters," said Ashley Peterson, vice president of scientific and regulatory affairs for the National Chicken Council (NCC), a non-profit trade group representing the U.S. chicken industry.

According to the NCC, its member producers and processors account for about 95 percent of the chicken produced in the U.S.

"This study evaluates only two chicken nugget samples out of the billions of chicken nuggets that are made every year," Peterson said. A sample size of two nuggets is simply too small to generalize to an entire category of food, she told Reuters Health.

Two nuggets is a small sample size, deShazo acknowledged, and some chains have begun to use primarily white meat in their nuggets - just not the particular restaurants he visited.

"Chicken nuggets tend to have an elevated fat content because they are breaded and fried. But it's no secret what is in a chicken nugget - most quick service restaurants have nutritional information posted in the store or on their website," Peterson said.

"And every package of chicken nuggets in the grocery store by law contains an ingredient list and a complete nutritional profile, including fat content," she said.

The brief chicken nugget exploration was not meant to be an exposé of the chicken industry or fast food generally, but to remind consumers that "not everything that tastes good is good for you," deShazo said.

He and his colleagues chose not to reveal which chain restaurants they visited.

ObamaCare Cost Increases Shocking to Many…

Fabulous Obamacare Success Stories

EIB: BEGIN 10.03.13 TRANSCRPT

RUSH: James Taranto, the Wall Street Journal, has a story of a guy named Brendan Mahoney, who did succeed. It's a Hartford Courant story, and this guy's being joked about as the man who saved Obamacare. The subhead is: "Great news! They got a 30-year-old dude to sign up!" And here are the details. "Meet Brendan Mahoney, the young man who is saving ObamaCare. He's 30 years old, a third-year law student at the University of Connecticut. He's actually been insured for the past three years -- in 2011 and 2012 through a $2,400-a-year school-sponsored health plan." So he's already got insurance and he went to the exchange. This year he is insured "through 'a high-deductible, low-premium plan that cost about $39 a month through a UnitedHealthcare subsidiary.'" But even though he already had plan, at 39 bucks a month, "he wanted to see what ObamaCare had to offer."

"He tried logging in to the exchange's website at 8:45 a.m. yesterday, which is impressive in itself. Most young people don't get up that early. 'He said the system could not verify his identity.'" He's got insurance, don't forget. He's paying $39 a month through a United Health Care subsidiary, high deductible, low premium plan, school-sponsored health plan. When the system couldn't verify his identity, "he called the toll-free help line, whose operator also encountered computer trouble. 'But then he logged on a second time, he said, and the system worked.'"

He told the Hartford Courant, "'Once it got running, it was fast. It really made my day. It's a lot like TurboTax.' He obtained insurance through ObamaCare. Now, he says, 'if I get sick, I'll definitely go to the doctor.' Even better, if he stays healthy, he won't need to go to a doctor, and his premiums will support chronically ill policyholders on the wrong side of 40."

This is the guy, this is what they're looking for. Now, hang in there with me, folks. This is not over. This is exactly what they're looking for, a 30-year-old healthy guy to sign up and pay the freight so that nanaw and grandpa can be treated. They're looking for 30-year-olds who are not gonna get sick, not gonna put any financial strain on the system. They pay the premium, they pay the freight. This guy had a premium of 39 bucks. He wanted to see if he could beat that on Obamacare, and he did.

"So, how much of a premium is strapping young Brendan Mahoney paying to help make ObamaCare work? Oops. The Courant reports that Mahoney 'said that by filling out the application online, he discovered he was eligible for Medicaid.'" So 30-year-old strapping, healthy dude, Brendan Mahoney, beginning next year will not pay any premium at all because Obamacare, the exchange, told him, based on the way he filled out the data, that he is eligible for Medicaid.

What a fabulous success story for Obamacare's first day. Here we have a future lawyer -- remember, now, this guy is I think a 3L at the University of Connecticut. He was gonna be a lawyer, might still be a lawyer. He was already paying for insurance, and he's been converted into a welfare case. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the objective. When you strip it all away, this shows how all of this is really designed to work.

Now, on the surface -- and everything I've told you here is true -- this 30-year-old guy signs up, he's paying a premium of $39, but, you know, he's curious. He's a tech savvy guy. He wanted to find out what it was all about. Maybe he could beat the 39 bucks. So he fills out all the necessary forms, inputs all the data, and he finds out at age 30 he qualifies for Medicaid, and therefore he's become a welfare case.

So this 30-year-old guy -- and hopefully, theoretically millions like him who are gonna be signing up and paying all these premiums so that nanaw and grandpa can get health coverage and treatment, qualified for Medicaid. So a 30-year-old guy -- who was gonna be a lawyer, so you figure he's got some decent earning power -- has been converted by Obamacare into a welfare case. And he didn't pull any strings. He didn't know anybody. He didn't ask for special treatment. This is just what the system spat out.

So now he doesn't have pay 39 bucks. Now he can get rid of that health plan he's got at school. At 30 years of age, he discovered he was eligible for Medicaid. He's a healthy guy. I is a joke here that they're saying, "Here we have great news, a 30-year-old guy signed up," because the story is nobody's been able to sign up. But lo and be, "Hey, we got a guy!" You know, the regime can tell everyone, "We got a guy! We got a guy! It's this guy in Old Clayneck, Connecticut, 30 years old. Look at this, what we did here. We got a guy! We got a guy.

"He's exactly who we want to sign up here," and Obamacare turned him into a welfare case. They turned him into a ward of the state. A guy that's gonna be a lawyer, is gonna have decent earning power is now a Medicaid recipient. "Oh, come on, Rush! It's just a first-year glitch. These things will get ironed out." A little companion story here from the Washington Free Beacon. "Health insurance premiums for young people will rise in all 50 states under Obamacare, with an average increase of 260 percent, according to a study released Thursday.

"The young and healthy segment of the uninsured is considered crucial for the Affordable Care Act to succeed. Former President Bill Clinton suggested last week that Obamacare only works 'if young people show up.'" Well, what the hell, folks? Here we got this young guy that showed up and the system made him a Medicaid recipient. He didn't game it. He is just going through the process and found out that he qualified for Medicaid -- and I'm telling you, in my not so cynical opinion, I think that is the long-0term objective is to turn everybody into a welfare case in this country, folks.

That's the long-term objective of not just Obamacare, but of the Democrat Party. Turn everybody into a dependents. Make everybody dependent on government for things they consider really important, like their health care. Here's another one. The Associated Press: "A Bumpy First Day for New Affordable Care Act Insurance Marketplaces -- The technical trouble couldn't dampen the relief Hussein Daoud felt for himself, his wife and their six children. The 51-year-old Detroit man came to apply for insurance at the Dearborn-based nonprofit organization ACCESS. With the help of counselors, he learned that his annual income of $14,500 made him eligible for Medicaid, and he likely won't have to pay for a plan that covers his family."

He's 51 years old. He, his wife, and six children -- and an annual income of $14,500? What in the world...? (interruption) Yeah, eight people for free, but before you get there, how are eight people getting by on his $14,500 annual income? Well, I know. Food stamps and all the other stuff, but so eight people in Dearbornistan go in to sign up and he end up becoming wards of the state. Health care for them is free as well, in addition to the strapping young 30-year-old Brendan Mahoney in Connecticut. (laughing)

On one hand, this is the biggest collection of Keystone Cops and incompetence running. On the other hand, this is a really, really profoundly dangerous thing that's happening here. But there's a part of me that, I'm sorry, cannot suppress my laughter at raging... I know you might think it's a conflict to call them incompetent when they're registering all these wards of the state. I am here to tell you, folks, that they did not intend for 30-year-olds to be comped. That was never part of the plan. That's who is going to have to pay. How in the world...?

The way that they make those people wards of the state is take all of their disposable income in the form of health care premiums and make them dependent in other ways. But they do need money flowing into the system. They do need some people paying premiums, and they can't get by with just the rich paying premiums; there isn't enough money there to cover everybody. So they need these strapping, young, 30-year-old guys and women, who aren't gonna get sick, paying into the system -- and the system's converting 'em to welfare recipients. (Raspberry) Hee-hee-hee-hee-hee.

RUSH: Here's Lee, New York City. Lee, it's great to have you on the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: How are you? Hey, you spoke about the Obamacare success story with 30-year-old guy in law school getting a free ride.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: They're probably tickled pink about this because what's gonna happen in a few years or less than that this guy starts earning six figures and he's stuck in the program? Hello, premiums!

RUSH: Now, that's a good point. He's talking about the first story I had in the Stack today, a Hartford Courant story about Brendan, some 30-year-old law student at University of Connecticut. He is in, folks, an insurance plan right now at school where he has a $39 a month premium. So he went to the Obama exchange in Connecticut on the website, and he got through, and he signed up.

Well, he found out that he qualifies for Medicaid as a college student. He doesn't have any income, not to speak of, so he's poor. So he qualifies for Medicaid. So right now, he doesn't pay anything. Now, the regime... He's 30, still in school. The regime wants people like this guy paying full freight to pay for nanaw and grandma. So people are making a big joke about the fact that this Brendan guy -- a healthy, strapping 30-year-old -- has been converted into a ward of the state by Obamacare.

But Lee's point here is, if this guy finishes school and does become a lawyer and does find a job (and all of those are questionable) then he's no longer qualifying for Medicaid, is he? He won't qualify for Medicaid once he gets a job as a lawyer, 'cause he won't qualify for Medicaid anymore. As Lee points out, this 30-year-old strapping young Brendan guy, he's not gonna like it. He's not gonna like the revelation that his premiums are gonna skyrocket, and that's true. That's gonna be a delayed reaction, because that requires old Brendan to graduate and then find a job at a decent law firm where he hangs his own shingle or what have you.

It's a great point, Lee. I appreciate that.

RUSH: Here's Nancy, Salt Lake City. Hi, Nancy, great to have you on the program. Hi.

CALLER: Hello. Nice to speak with you. Thank you for your time. I'll get right to the point 'cause I know you're busy. I want to tie in your very first story in the first hour and the story in your second hour about the Medicaid. I'm a single mom. I make $5,000 a year. I qualify for Medicaid, but my spend down premium is $460 a month. I am not eligible for any tax credit subsidy because my income is below 100% of the federal poverty level, which is 99% of my household income. This is a mess, it's a chocolate mess.

RUSH: Wait a minute. You make $5,000 a year?

CALLER: Yes. I'm a student and I make $5,000 a year and I'm trying to get out of the toilet.

RUSH: Oh, okay, student. And you don't qualify. You make too little to qualify for poverty?

CALLER: I do qualify. I am 100% below the federal poverty level.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: But for me to have Medicaid I have to pay the state of Utah $460 a month.

RUSH: Well, how did this clown in Connecticut get onto Obamacare and he's not gonna pay anything?

CALLER: Exactly, and he doesn't even have a child that he has to raise.

RUSH: Well, not that we know of.

CALLER: Well, that's true, too.

RUSH: Not that he knows of.

CALLER: I'm still trying to see the future pay-in, you know. But, anyway, so I'm not available for any tax credit subsidies that they claim that the poor people get to help them --

RUSH: This is incredible. So people at or below 100% of the poverty line cannot get Obamacare subsidies?

CALLER: Correct. You are correct. I have it right here in black and white. I do not qualify for any of the subsidy. But yet they want 99% of my household --

RUSH: You know, I could be really insensitive and say, "Welcome to my world."

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: But I wouldn't do that.

CALLER: But that's okay.

RUSH: I'm not doing that, Dawn, don't shake your head. I wasn't doing that. I told her I could, but I wouldn't. I'm not doing that. I just want you to know I don't get subsidies, either.

CALLER: Yeah. It blows you away, doesn't it, how this Obamacare is supposed to help the poor and --

RUSH: Yes, I know.

CALLER: -- blah, blah, blah.

RUSH: I did not know that you could be too poor to qualify for Obamacare. You're supposed to get Medicaid, but you have to pay $460 bucks a month did you say for Medicaid?

CALLER: Correct.

RUSH: That doesn't sound like it makes any sense. Anyway, I've gotta run. I'm outta time. I'm very sorry, Nancy, but that we'll have to look into. Don't go away, folks. Be right back.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I don't understand having to pay $400 a month for Medicaid. I've never heard of that before. I'm not challenging what she said; I just haven't heard about it.

Obamacare To Double Cost Of Insurance For Average Californian

Last week, the state of California claimed that its version of Obamacare’s health insurance exchange would actually reduce premiums. But, as Forbes reports, the data that the executive director of California's 'exchange' released tells a different story: Obamacare, in fact, will increase individual-market premiums in California by as much as 146 percent. The exuberance that Peter Lee exclaimed over the 'savings' is a misleading comparison. He was comparing apples - the plans that Californians buy today for themselves in a robust individual market-and oranges - the highly regulated plans that small employers purchase for their workers as a group. If you're a 25 year old male non-smoker, buying insurance for yourself, the cheapest plan on Obamacare’s exchanges is the catastrophic plan, which costs an average of $184 a month; but in 2013, on eHealthInsurance.com, Forbes explains, the median cost of the five cheapest plans was only $92. In other words, for the typical 25-year-old male non-smoking Californian, Obamacare will drive premiums up by between 100 and 123 percent. The desperate spin of the PR disaster is incredible as talk of a 'rate shock' is now very prescient, "these extraordinary increases are up to 15 times faster than inflation and threaten to make health care unaffordable for hundreds of thousands of Californians."

Via Forbes,

Last week, the state of California claimed that its version of Obamacare’s health insurance exchange would actually reduce premiums. “These rates are way below the worst-case gloom-and-doom scenarios we have heard,” boasted Peter Lee, executive director of the California exchange. But the data that Lee released tells a different story: Obamacare, in fact, will increase individual-market premiums in California by as much as 146 percent.

...

“The rates submitted to Covered California for the 2014 individual market,” the state said in a press release, “ranged from two percent above to 29 percent below the 2013 average premium for small employer plans in California’s most populous regions.”

That’s the sentence that led to all of the triumphant commentary from the left. “This is a home run for consumers in every region of California,” exulted Peter Lee.

Except that Lee was making a misleading comparison. He was comparing apples—the plans that Californians buy today for themselves in a robust individual market—and oranges—the highly regulated plans that small employers purchase for their workers as a group. The difference is critical.

...

If you’re a 25 year old male non-smoker, buying insurance for yourself, the cheapest plan on Obamacare’s exchanges is the catastrophic plan, which costs an average of $184 a month.

... But in 2013, on eHealthInsurance.com (NASDAQ:EHTH), the median cost of the five cheapest plans was only $92.

In other words, for the typical 25-year-old male non-smoking Californian, Obamacare will drive premiums up by between 100 and 123 percent.

...

Obamacare’s impact on 40-year-olds is steepest in the San Francisco Bay area, especially in the counties north of San Francisco, like Marin, Napa, and Sonoma. Also hard-hit are Orange and San Diego counties.

...

How did Lee and his colleagues explain the sleight-of-hand they used to make it seem like they were bringing prices down, instead of up? “It is difficult to make a direct comparison of these rates to existing premiums in the commercial individual market,” Covered California explained in last week’s press release, “because in 2014, there will be new standard benefit designs under the Affordable Care Act.” That’s a polite way of saying that Obamacare’s mandates and regulations will drive up the cost of premiums in the individual market for health insurance.

But rather than acknowledge that truth, the agency decided to ignore it completely, instead comparing Obamacare-based insurance to a completely different type of insurance product, that bears no relevance to the actual costs that actual Californians face when they shop for coverage today. Peter Lee calls it a “home run.” It’s more like hitting into a triple play.

Everyone needs to go through the process of finding out what ObamaCare will cost them and then send the quote on to your Congressman and Senator… and ask them Why?  What happened to the promises?!?

Woman Who Could Not Afford ObamaCare Tries to Kill President

Live Updates: Shots Fired Near Capitol

After the initial report of mayhem in Washington D.C. and the originally reported shooting of a guard in the Capitol, it changed to that a woman, with a baby in her car, tried to ram the barriers in front of the White House in an attempt to kill the president after not being able to afford ObamaCare… an ever disappointing promise for many.

The facts on this event have been a disorganized moving target, but it now appears that the woman did not have a gun, that the car chase by police after the unarmed suspect led to the Capitol where it was reported that a guard or policeman was shot by a stray police bullet.

Capitol has re-opened within about an hour after shots were fired but the actual events are still evolving.

*The latest update is that the suspect tried to get through a check point at the far southern point of what is now considered White House grounds, blocks away from the actual White House.  The President was never in danger.  It seems that the suspect was hit and killed, but that is not verified, and the baby was not hit and is fine.  It also now appears that the formerly reported shooting of the guard or policeman was a false reporting and that the policeman injured himself in the police car crash below… one police car hitting another.

*(4:22p.m.) It has now been confirmed that the suspect, who appears to be an African-American, is dead and although the officer was hurt during the impact of their cars, no officers were killed.  A witness reports that she was shot in the head; not confirmed.  It appears that the suspect backed into a police vehicle at one point, but short of trying to escape she did not appear to be violent or have any weapons. So did the police over-react? Was there excessive force used?

*(4:52P.M.) The questions are now surfacing… Why are there no photos of the baby or of a baby being removed from the car.  If there was a baby, with the back windows of the car blown out, was that baby injured?  Could this situation have been accelerated by bad judgment?  Why is any normally released information not being released, yet nobody bothered to blur out the the victim’s car license plate number on many photos?  Why was it originally reported that this was a reaction to the woman’s disappointed with ObamaCare and now that fact has already been buried?

What this incident does do is add a whole new dynamic to the ObamaCare debate and perhaps a glimpse into the reality for many who will find themselves in the same place as this woman… feeling duped by the President’s promises surrounding ObamaCare.

At this point there is much speculation, but there seem to be more questions than answers.

FBI agents rushed to the scene and Senate Sergeant at Arms Terrance Gainer confirmed: “There are reports of injuries.

This is an evolving story… so check back for updates.
